Here we go again. The streets of an American city have erupted in violence to protest police officers doing their jobs. This time it is in Charlotte, NC and the reason is because a cop fatally shot a black man. Mind you, the cop was also black and the person he fatally shot was armed with a gun, but some people don’t need much of an excuse to riot.
WSOC reports that an angry mob has taken over the streets of Charlotte, specifically targeting police. As of this writing, 12 officers have been injured, including one who was hit in the face with a rock. Police have tried to disperse the violent thugs with tear gas but it doesn’t appear to have worked. I just saw a live clip on the local LA news showing a huge unruly crowd with many of them jumping up and down on a police car.
So what exactly has these rioters so upset? Well, according to The Charlotte Observer on Tuesday afternoon Charlotte PD were looking for a man with an outstanding warrant when something interesting caught their eye. 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott got out of a parked car holding a gun. When police approached him, he quickly got back in the car.
The officers told him to exit the vehicle and amazingly enough he complied. Unfortunately he was still armed with the gun and threatened the officers with it. One of the officers fired at Scott and he hit the ground. Officers summoned an ambulance and immediately began administering CPR on Scott. He was taken to the hospital where he died.
Police recovered the gun he used from the scene. In a statement the department said Scott was armed with a gun “and posed an imminent deadly threat to the officers, who subsequently fired their weapon striking the subject.”
The officer who fired the fatal shots was identified as Brentley Vinson. He is black. Keith Lamont Scott was also black.
This not an example of racist police committing genocide on black people; it is one of the most justified police shootings you will ever hear about. The outrage over this incident it complete and utter nonsense. If Scott hadn’t threatened cops with a gun, he would never have been shot. This is all on him and he paid the ultimate price.
A woman who claims to be Scott’s daughter made an inflammatory video in which she says he was just reading a book in his car when cops shot him. “He didn’t have no gun,” said the woman, which grammatically speaking would indicate that he did have a gun.
Now Charlotte is getting the Ferguson treatment with “peaceful protesters” tearing the place up.
The protesters held signs that said “Stop Killing Us” and “Black Lives Matter,” and chanted “No justice, no peace.”
Don’t point a gun at a cop and you won’t get killed. I’m sure the black officer who shot Scott believes that black lives matter, namely his own, which is why he defended it against a deadly threat. As for the demand for justice, it has already been served. The bad guy was killed and the police officer got to go home to his family.
