Over the past week, America and the world, have been shocked and disgusted by the details surfacing in the gruesome Facebook live video showing the torture of a special needs man by four black teenagers. In an exclusive interview with the U.K. Daily Mail, the victim’s aunt said that he knew one of his attackers.
The kidnappers were: Brittany Covington, 18; her sister Tanisha Covington, 24; Tesfaye Cooper, 18; and Jordan Hill, 18. It was Hill who invited the victim, they went to school together and the special needs’ teen “idolized” Hill. His aunt explained:
(The victim) just keeps saying, ‘Why, why? Jordan was my friend. He’s been my friend for a couple of years. They went to school together, they both had problems. He adores Jordan. I don’t know Jordan but (the victim) really liked him. It’s one thing if they didn’t know each other but (the victim) idolized him.
Isn’t that sad? These four teens hated the white teen for his race, but he idolized one of them. So, how is he racist? Just because he was born white? If the incident could be more heartbreaking than it already is, this piece of information makes it so. He was tortured by someone he looked up to.
On Friday, the four suspects were denied bail. The judge said that all four were a danger to society and questioned how they could commit such a horrific act.
Let’s pray they meet swift justice, and spend a LONG time behind bars thinking about what they did.
Moreover, let’s pray the victim can recover–not just physically, but mentally and emotionally to get back to living his life. No one should ever have to endure this type of torture and hate.
