I could not make this up even if I tried …
The Telegraph reported this weekend that Britain’s first female infantry soldier, Chloe Allen, happens to be a man named Ben Allen:
Guardsman Chloe Allen, who joined the forces in 2012 as Ben Allen, made the decision to transition from male to female after being caught cross-dressing as she prepared to guard a royal palace.
But she said being discovered wearing women’s clothing was a “blessing in disguise” because it prompted her to “get on and deal with it”.
Fast forward to Saturday, when General Sir James Everard, commander of the Field Army, reportedly praised Allen, 24, for his courage.
“I’m delighted to have our first woman serving in a ground close combat unit,” he said. “The British Army is really proving itself as an inclusive organisation where everyone is welcome and can thrive.”
“Being the first of anything takes courage. I applaud Guardsman Chloe Allen for being a trendsetter and wish her every success.”
Excuse me for being rude, but …
That said, so long as Allen meets the requirement for service in the infantry, I guess we should support his “achievement”? Or so say liberals …
