This certainly makes the liberal case for gun control, doesn’t it? Over the weekend 66 people in Chicago were shot, with 12 fatalities. Good people aren’t really allowed to arm themselves for self-defense and the cops made exactly zero arrests in these 66 shootings. The people can’t protect themselves and neither can the cops, but at least those strict gun control laws are keeping the criminals from getting their hands on firearms. Oh wait, that last thing isn’t remotely true.
Here’s a f*ckecd up thing from Reuters:
Chicago police have made no arrests tied to the shootings of 66 people over the weekend, 12 of them fatal…
[Police Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson] told reporters there were some promising leads in investigations of the weekend bloodshed, but he did not elaborate and provided few updates on crime statistics for the third most populous U.S. city. Authorities had previously said gun violence was on a decline this year.
“I share the anger and frustration that many Chicagoans are having today because, if anything, this should underscore the continuing issue that we have with illegal guns and offenders that are out on the street that are willing to use them,” said Johnson.
It also underscores the complete ineffectiveness of gun control. Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the country and it doesn’t do a damn bit of good. For some reason those pesky criminals don’t give a shit what the law says and break the law anyways.
Police Superintendent Johnson is no help. Maybe mayor Rham Emanuel can help make sense of this with a barely coherent rant:
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel: “You can talk about the weather, but the weather didn’t pull the trigger. You can talk about jobs, and they count, but in parts of the city where there aren’t jobs, people did not pull the trigger.” https://t.co/O7smQpUa48 pic.twitter.com/IZvHFdu2dC

“You can talk about the weather, but the weather didn’t pull the trigger. You can talk about jobs, and they count, but in parts of the city where there aren’t jobs, people did not pull the trigger,” said Emanuel.
Hey, at least he isn’t blaming global warming for these shootings. I’m actually not sure what the hell he’s trying to say, but it does appear the he doesn’t feel like weather is responsible.
“There are too many guns on the street. Too many people with criminal records on the street. And there is a shortage of values of what is right and what is wrong,” Emanuel said.
If only there was some way to get guns and criminals off the streets. I’ve heard of this thing called law enforcement that may be of some use. Perhaps, Chicago could stop restraining it’s police officers and actually let them do their jobs.
While Police Superintendent Johnson said he had some promising leads, Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel was hoping the public would rat out the shooters, indicating there may not be any promising leads.
“We as a city, in every corner, have an accountability and a responsibility. If you know who did this, be a neighbor. Speak up,” pleaded Emanuel.
That’s one of those plans that’s so stupid it’s brilliant. Chicago doesn’t allow good people to arm themselves and does next to nothing to provide protection for it’s citizens, instead relying on snitches to keep the city safe. Um, okay I’ve changed my mind. That’s just stupid without the brilliance.
It’s actually astonishing that with 66 people shot, police managed to make exactly zero arrests. You’d think just by playing the law of averages they would have nabbed at least one suspect, even if be accident. Clearly strict unconstitutional gun control and the snitch program aren’t working. I wonder if they have a plan B.
