Following Donald Trump’s election there was a wave of hate crimes attributed to his supporters that turned out to be hoaxes. Among the most media-friendly of these bullshit stories were the ones involving Muslim women attacked by Trump-supporting white men. One of those that gained significant traction and liberal outrage was a San Diego college student who claimed she was attacked and robbed because of her Islamic faith. As you probably already figured out, the story has completely fallen apart.
A couple of days after Trump was elected, a San Diego State University student reported a horrific hate crime. Fox 5 detailed the female Muslim student’s claim that two men attacked her in a campus parking garage. She said the men made disparaging comments about her Islamic faith and traditional Muslim headwear. They physically assaulted her, she claims, and then stole her car.
Alisha Sharif is a friend of the victim and said the robbers referred to President-elect Donald Trump before attacking the woman and stealing her car.
“They were saying things like, ‘Now that Trump is president get ready to start fleeing.’ They proceeded to push her around and she wrestled with them,” Sharif described.
The senior student left the area to report the crime, and when she returned with officers, they discovered that her vehicle had been stolen as well, Lt. Ronald Broussard said.
Sharif says she no longer feels safe on campus.
“My religion, just being so visible, it breaks my heart that I’m such a target for most people just because of the religion that I choose,” Sharif said.
It turns out everyone can feel safe on campus because this story is simply not true. San Diego 7 Reports that the “victim” no longer wishes to pursue an investigation, and that is largely because there is no evidence that this hate crime attack happened.
Right off the bat, it seems that these Trump-supporting attackers did not steal the Muslim woman’s car. She simply had forgotten where she parked and her car was safe and sound all along. Police, who took this crime report serious, poured over surveillance video and talked to potential witnesses but couldn’t find any proof that anything occurred.
Despite the lack of evidence, police continued to investigate, but now the so-called victim has said she doesn’t want them to carry on.
A San Diego State University student who initially reported being pushed and verbally assaulted by two men in a parking garage has decided not to pursue charges, SDSU Police said Tuesday.
SDSU Police confirmed the report and launched an investigation into what they described as a hate crime. Eight weeks later, the student was not willing to testify and decided she no longer wanted to pursue the matter criminally, according to police.
Police have suspended their investigation, but have not announce any charges against the woman for filing a false report. Hey, the media says Muslim women are the victims of Trump supporter hate so why should she be held accountable for wasting police resources and slandering white Americans, right?
This anonymous SDSU student joins this illustrious list of Muslim hate crime hoaxers:
Unnamed Muslim woman claims Trump supporters at the University of Michigan threatened to set her on fire if she didn’t remove her hijab. She was lying.
18-year-old Muslim Yasmin Seweid claimed 3 white men yelling “Trump” and “terrorist” tried to snatch the hijab off of her head on a NY train. She was also lying.
Ilhan Omar a Minnesota State Muslim lawmaker, claims a cab driver in Washington DC called her “ISIS” and threatened to remove her hijab. So far no evidence that this ever happened has surfaced.
A Louisiana Muslim college student said 2 white men in Trump hats jumped her, beat her up, and pulled off her hijab. She later admitted she fabricated the entire thing.
