After many failed offensives like recounts, Electoral College revolts, and military coups, the anti-Trump Resistance settled on impeachment as the best way to nullify the results of a free and fair election they didn’t like. Unfortunately, the House of Representatives is controlled by cowardly Republicans who have this weird need to follow the rule of law and won’t impeach a Republican President for no particular reason. The Resistance forces then settled for the next best thing which was trying to impeach Trump’s liquor license for his DC hotel. In another stunning setback for the Resistance, Trump is keeping his liquor license.
CNN reports the sad news from the front lines:
Washington’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Board met on Wednesday to consider a review into whether President Donald Trump has the character to sell alcohol in the nation’s capital.
In a terse announcement Wednesday afternoon, the board said its interpretation of local law made them opt not to act at this time, allowing Trump’s DC properties to continue as they are.
A terse announcement? Boy, CNN sure wears their impartiality on their sleeve, don’t they. This announcement wasn’t terse, abrupt, or shocking in any way. In fact the proper way to report this is that the ABC board told these silly resisters to stop wasting their time.
Wednesday’s meeting came in response to a June complaint from a group called Make Integrity Great Again, which has seized upon DC regulations to assert Trump is not of “good character” and therefore should not be able to sell alcoholic beverages at the Trump International Hotel, located blocks away from the White House.
The complainants filed a series of supplements ahead of Wednesday’s meeting, including an additional filing earlier this month citing the recent guilty plea of Trump’s former personal attorney and confidant Michael Cohen.
The leftist lawyer behind this dumb action makes this even funnier:
Joshua Levy, a lawyer behind the effort, told CNN ahead of Wednesday’s hearings that he believed their evidence was “overwhelming” and dismissed the idea that the case was not worth bringing.
“There’s nothing petty about the enforcement of the law,” said Levy.
What about enforcing immigration law? Is this guy in flavor of that? Or how about putting minorities in jail for crimes they both committed and were convicted of? Liberals suddenly being concerned about enforcing the law is hysterical.
And the thing is, Trump wasn’t violating the law in any way.
“The board does not agree with the assumption that a character and fitness review may be initiated at any time,” said the DC ABC board.
All hope is not lost for these brave Resistance warriors. they have vowed to fight this unjust ruling and there’s this potential bombshell:
The board’s chairperson, Donovan Anderson, said in a statement that the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration inspected the hotel as part of its review process following the complaint and found “an alleged sale-to-minor violation” scheduled to be on the board’s agenda later this month.
Max Bluestein, a spokesman for the alcoholic beverage administration, told CNN that while the allegation could lead to a warning or fine after review, it would not lead to the revocation of the hotel’s license.
This may seem like a sad day for the Resistance, but word has it they are working on a case to prove collusion between Ronald McDonald and Trump to get the President permanently banned from his favorite fast food restaurant. I believe Mayor McCheese has been appointed special counsel.
