The democrats do not have a deep bench and if you need any evidence just look at who they chose to rebut President Trump’s address before the joint session of Congress on Tuesday. Instead of getting anyone who is actually serving, they went with former Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear who was actually displaced by a Republican. With literally no one the people can identify with, the democrats may be in for a treat: Oprah Winfrey is considering running for president in 2020.
Oprah appeared on The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations where the seeds of her candidacy were planted.
“Have you ever thought that, given the popularity you have, we haven’t broken the glass ceiling yet for women, that you could actually run for president and actually be elected,” asked the host.
“I actually never though that was, I never considered the question even a possibility. I just thought, ‘Oh, Oh,’” said Oprah.
“It’s clear that you don’t need government experience to be elected President of the United States,” offered the host.
“That’s what I thought. I thought, ‘Oh, gee, I don’t have the experience. I don’t know enough.’ And now I’m thinking, ‘Oh,” Oprah said.
Did you get that? First she thought “oh, oh” then she thought “oh, gee” and now she’s thinking “oh.” It’s hard to believe someone this articulate wouldn’t make a wonderful president. In case you aren’t quite up on your Oprah-speak, she is now considering running based on the idea that she’s at least as unqualified as the previous two presidents.
There’s no question that Oprah would run as a democrat and in fact they have been eyeing her as a potential 2020 candidate. Even fellow jellyroll Michael Moore thinks Oprah should run for the dems:
“Democrats would be better off if they ran Oprah or Tom Hanks. Why don’t we run beloved people? We have so many of them. The Republicans do this – they run Reagan and the Terminator and other people. Why don’t we run somebody that the American people love and are really drawn to, and that are smart and have good politics and all that?” Moore asked after Hillary lost last November.
Here’s the problem with that: Oprah is “beloved” by roughly the same people that loved Hillary Clinton and clearly that isn’t good enough to win the presidency. Outside of the liberal faithful most of the rest of the country either hates Oprah or doesn’t care about her. She’s wealthy but not rich enough to give everyone in the country a new car so it’s unlikely she’d do any better than Hillary.
Another problem is Oprah is an idiot. She has nothing intelligent to say and wouldn’t know a good idea if it hit her in her big fat ass. I’m not saying this because I don’t like her, she really is vapid and inane. Listen to her talk sometime. She babbles incoherently and then suddenly shouts something stupid to make a point that is only important to her and her braindead fans.
I also feel like Oprah probably doesn’t take criticism very well. For her entire career she has lived in a bubble protected by her adoring admirers. In a presidential run, she will get ripped to shreds, especially if she’s going against Trump, and I don’t think she can take it. You think she has a problem with binge-eating now, wait until Trump calls her a fat loser and a failed former TV host.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love it if the democrats ran Oprah next election. It would guarantee another 4 years we don’t have a democrat in the White House. In fact, I may campaign on her behalf just to ensure the GOP stays in control.
