A black New Jersey woman tried a little Al Sharpton style race hustling recently by completely inventing an act of racism. Claiming she was threatened by a white police officer, she no doubt had her eyes a nice settlement from a city too scared to fight any allegation of racism. The only problem with this plan was that the entire incident was captured on the officer’s patrol car dash cam and there is irrefutable evidence that she’s a lying sack of crap.
The Daily Record reports that on October 15 in Pequannock, NJ 50-year old Hyacinth Peccoo blew through a stop sign in full view of a police officer. The cop pulled her over about a block away in the driveway of a home she claimed was her place of employment. The officer gave her a ticket and left. It was a nothing event.
Peccoo however didn’t like getting a ticket so she stormed down to the Pequannock Police Department to file a complaint. Obviously she couldn’t just say she didn’t want to pay the fine so she came up with a far more fantastic story. After meeting with Detective Lt. Michael Fairweather from internal affairs, Peccoo unleashed a whopper.
First, she claimed that she hadn’t run the stop sign and that the officer made up the violation, planting the seeds of racial profiling. It gets worse from there. Peccoo says the officer yelled at her and then pulled out his gun and pointed in her face.
In her fictional account of things, she reported that she asked the officer if he was going to shoot her in broad daylight.
Peccoo wrote down all of these details in a report and signed it as fact. That’s when the fun began. Lt. Fairweather informed her that the traffic stop in question had been recorded by the officer’s dash cam. At that point I imagine Peccoo probably soiled her pants because she knew she was busted.
The video does indeed show Peccoo running the stop sign. It also shows a friendly officer issuing a ticket. At no point does he yell at Peccoo and never once does his gun come out of the holster. Even funnier, Lt. Fairweather made Peccoo sit down and watch the entire video with him as he pointed out how full of shit she was.
Making this all the more messed up is, the officer actually gave Peccoo a break. Instead of citing her for the moving violation with a bigger fine and points, he gives her a non-point ticket for not having the correct information on her license. He was doing her a solid and she repaid him by accusing him of violent and abusive behavior.
It’s a good thing there was a video of the traffic stop or that poor officer might have lost his job over this woman’s lies.
Peccoo was charged with making a false report to law enforcement authorities, which in NJ is a disorderly persons offense. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds bad.
One of the big demands from Black Lives Matter is that all cops be equipped with body cameras, but they might want to re-think that one. Rather than prove rampant racist policing, I suspect this surveillance will only cut into the fake police brutality racket. A dash cam certainly kept a black woman in NJ from milking the taxpayers on a bogus police misconduct charge.
