This is amazing and yet hardly unexpected. Democrat Chuck Schumer has said he will not vote for President Trump’s judicial nominee for no other reason than he is white. I didn’t realize it was legal to discriminate against people based on the color of their skin. There’s probably a loophole that says liberals can be racist as long as it’s against white people and/or conservatives. Those lefties sure gave themselves some nice perks when they crafted the rules, didn’t they?
President Trump nominated Marvin Quattlebaum for a vacancy on the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. The Senate Minority Leader raised a big stink saying he will oppose this nomination. Why? Is Quattlebaum unqualified or some kind of extremist? No, he’s just white and Schumer finds that intolerable.
“The nomination of Marvin Quattlebaum speaks to the overall lack of diversity in President Trump’s selections for the federal judiciary. Quattlebaum replaces not one, but two scuttled Obama nominees who were African American,” said Schumer.
This is actually fairly consistent with liberal ideology. Trump replaced an African American and liberals couldn’t be any more upset. Apparently this is a new liberal rule: white people are not allowed to take the place of black people no matter what.
“As of February 14th, 83 percent of the President Trump’s confirmed nominees were male, 92 percent were white. That represents the lowest share of non-white candidates in three decades. It’s long past time that the judiciary starts looking a lot more like the America it represents. Having a diversity of views and experiences on the federal bench is necessary for the equal administration of justice,” Schumer said.
And with that…
“I’ll be voting no on the Quattlebaum nomination,” said Schumer pouting and stomping his feet.
Find me anything in Schumer’s statement that says he opposes Quattlebaum for any reason other than he is white. You can’t do it because that is literally the only reason why Schumer won’t vote for him. As I alluded to before, this is a thing we call racism. No Senator, democrat or Republican, could state they were voting against someone because he or she was black, so why is this acceptable?
Chuck Schumer is Jewish. Would he be cool if one of his Senate colleagues voted down a judicial nominee who was Jewish, saying that Jews are overrepresented in the courts? Of course he wouldn’t. There would be one hell of an anti-Semitism freak-out in this fictitious scenario.
Liberals have a lot of bad ideas, but one the worst is that it is somehow a good plan to give unqualified minorities positions they don’t deserve to make up for racism that hasn’t existed in two generations. Then again I guess if merit mattered, none of these democrats would have jobs either.
