Liberals see absolutely no problem with letting the homeless camp and defecate wherever they want, but there’s a bigger problem than just the stench. In San Diego homelessness is such a problem that it’s actually killing people. The filth is so bad that 15 people have died and another 300 have been hospitalized. Once again, liberal “compassion” comes with a price that anyone with an ounce of commonsense could have seen coming from a mile away.
Check this shit out, literally, from the LA Times:
Sanitary street washing will commence in downtown San Diego and will continue every other week to combat the city’s deadly hepatitis A outbreak, Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s office said Friday.
The city responded to a letter sent by San Diego County Thursday, asking the city to move forward with a list of specific sanitation actions designed to help control the spread of the disease, which has killed 15 people and hospitalized nearly 300, many of them homeless and living on streets without adequate access to restrooms or showers.
The county gave the city five business days to respond with a plan for remedying what it called a “fecally contaminated environment” downtown. The county will soon expand its efforts to other cities in the region, where the outbreak has now produced nearly 400 confirmed cases.
Fecally contaminated environment? I guess that’s the nice way of saying that the streets of San Diego are completely smeared with bum shit. This is so far beyond the liberal claim that the homeless are merely an inconvenience; they are a full-blown health hazard.
What if find totally crazy about this is that hepatitis A is not generally considered life-threatening. This is from Wikipedia:
Hepatitis A generally does not progress to a chronic state and rarely requires hospitalization. Treatment is supportive and includes such measures as providing intravenous (IV) hydration and maintaining adequate nutrition.
Basically, hepatitis A will go away on it’s own with plenty of fluids and a healthy diet. I guess crack and malt liquor don’t qualify as a balanced breakfast.
The city is setting up some 40 hand washing stations on the off chance that bums are going to clean up after taking an nasty shit on the sidewalk. If this seems like a very stupid and costly liberal solution, amazingly enough the Mayor of San Diego is a Republican. Then again, Californian Republicans tend to be liberals with an inexplicable “R” after their name.
Liberals always complain that city ordinances to curb homelessness are nuisance laws, but as you can clearly see, this is a public safety issue. If people can’t even walk down a city street without getting a disease, clearly letting bums do whatever they want wherever they want is a problem.
Look for this epidemic of filth to spread to other cities. Denver and New York have recently decriminalized public urination and defecation and Seattle takes pride that the streets are one giant public toilet.
