When Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen isn’t calling for a military coup against President Trump or offering disgraced FBII agent Peter Strzok a Purple Heart, he likes to spend his time being a crazy and horrible person. Recently he wished out loud that Republican US Rep. Marsha Blackburn would commit suicide. And people wonder why their can be no bipartisanship anymore.
Marsh Blackburn is a Republican US Rep. for Tennessee’s 7th Congressional district and is running for the US Senate in the state. Steve Cohen is a democratic US Rep. for Tennessee’s 9th Congressional district and is running for biggest asshole in the state.
Last month at a prayer breakfast, Cohen told a group of pastors what he’s praying for. The Huffington Post captured all of the terribleness:
“The big orange president …. He’s going to come down here and he is going to endorse Marsha Blackburn, because Marsha Blackburn, if he says, ‘Jump off the Harahan Bridge,’ she’ll jump off the Harahan Bridge. I wish he’d say that,” said Cohen.
The Harahan Bridge connects Memphis, TN with Arkansas. I’ve been on that bridge and it’s pretty high, probably over 100 feet. If someone were to jump off of that bridge they would most likely die. So here we have a sitting democratic Congressman wishing that a Republican Congresswoman would commit suicide. Beside being horrible, isn’t that misogynistic too?
The Huffington Post noted that Cohen’s remarks were met with laughter because apparently he was talking to a bunch of pastors who also think conservative suicide is hilarious.
The HuffPo reached out to Cohen for a comment and he didn’t disappoint:
“It was obviously humor. I wish her no harm. I hope she doesn’t get the Senate. And I wish she wasn’t a lackey for Trump. But I don’t wish her physical harm,” Cohen said.
It was “obviously humor” because he got busted for saying it and that doesn’t even account for how unfunny it is to wish death upon people, even in jest. I’m pretty sure Cohen wouldn’t get the joke if someone were to wish he would kill himself.
Luckily for Cohen he’s a democrat and covered by the party’s double-standard. As a liberal he gets to say whatever horrible thing he wants and will never face any consequences. On a rare incident like this where he was actually caught, he gets an easy out from the media by claiming he was just joking. He can also use racial slurs and make actual death threats against conservatives as the Democratic Party rules offer robust protection against backlash for being shitty.
While not quite as bad, it still concerning that Cohen also managed to insult the President of the United States with that “big orange” comment. This is not behavior suitable for someone who was elected to represent the people and it’s not even something a grown-ass adult should be doing. Also, let’s face it, someone as goofy-looking as Steve Cohen is the last person who should be making fun of a person’s appearance. He looks like a bald retarded Al Franken in a carnival fun mirror.
