The democrat shitshow, also know as the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, continued on Wednesday and liberals didn’t disappoint. Anti-gun Senator Dianne Feinstein rolled out her 2nd Amendment questions for the Supreme Court nominee and made a complete fool of herself. After Kavanaugh had to explained to her that people who possess firearms sometimes use them, Feinstein made the absurd claim that there have been hundreds of school shootings recently in which the attacker used an assault rifle.
Feinstein basically asked Kavanaugh why he doesn’t think banning assault weapons is constitutional. He responded by setting her straight that semi-automatic firearms are not assault weapons and then explained that the DC v. Heller Supreme Court decision states very clearly that people have the right to own weapons that are in common use and not dangerous and unusual. At that point Feinstein argued that assault weapons are not in common use so Kavanaugh set her straight again:
“Semi-automatic rifles are widely possessed in the United States. There are millions and millions and millions of semi-automatic rifles that are possessed, so that seemed to fit common use and not be a dangerous and unusual weapon,” said Kavanaugh.
Feinstein then actually argued, “Numbers determine common use? Common use is an activity. It’s not common storage or possession, it’s use. So what you said is that these weapons are commonly used. They’re not.”
Is she serious? Does she think millions of Americans own semi-automatic weapons, but don’t use them? Sadly yes.
Without skipping a beat, Kavanaugh responded, “They’re widely possessed in the United States, Senator. They are used and possessed.”
Having lost a major point, Feinstein dug deeper into her bag of stupidity and came up with this:
“How do you reconcile what you just said with the hundreds of school shootings using assault weapons that have taken place in recent history?” Feinstein asked.
Kavanaugh responded that as a father he too is concerned with keeping kids safe and pointed to a number of efforts that don’t involve unconstitutional gun bans that can be taken. That was a good answer, but what he should have said was, “As a judge I deal in facts, so I wouldn’t reconcile with your bullshit question at all.”
Hundreds of recent school shootings using assault rifles? Prove it, lady. There have only been 90 mass shootings, including school shootings, in the US since 1966. 90 is 110 less than the bare minimum to reach “hundreds” of shootings, and most of these were in fact not school shootings. Also, a span of time covering 52 years hardly qualifies as “recent.”
There’s also that pesky little problem that the vast majority of mass shootings are carried out by lunatics with handguns, not rifles. Rifles, even semi-automatic ones, are not assault weapons, but that’s what Feinstein calls them, so let’s point out that most mass shootings, school shootings included, were not committee with assault rifles.
I’m actually a little disappointed that Kavanaugh let Feinstein off with this obvious lie. It’s not like he has to suck up to the democrats to vote for his confirmation. Democrats already said they were voting against Trump’s nominee before Kavanaugh was even named. He should have just sat there with two middle finger flying until the democrats stopped asking their stupid fact-free loaded questions.
