Pork will no longer be served in federal prisons. As of last week, the “other white meat” is not on the menu. The Bureau of Prisons says the move was made because prisoners don’t like the taste of pork and are becoming more health conscious. If that sounds like a BS excuse, that’s probably because it is. As you know, Muslims are forbidden to eat pork, and it seems more likely that banning it is the Obama administration’s way of appeasing his favorite segment of the prison population.
The Washington Pots proclaims gleefully that: Finally, the government has decided to eliminate pork — from the menu in federal prisons
The nation’s pork producers are in an uproar after the federal government abruptly removed bacon, pork chops, pork links, ham and all other pig products from the national menu for 206,000 federal inmates.
The ban started with the new fiscal year last week.
The Bureau of Prisons, which is responsible for running 122 federal penitentiaries and feeding their inmates three meals a day, said the decision was based on a survey of prisoners’ food preferences:
They just don’t like the taste of pork.
“Why keep pushing food that people don’t want to eat? Pork has been the lowest-rated food by inmates for several years,” said Edmond Ross, a spokesman for the prison bureau.
I guess if they did a survey of Muslim inmates they may come to the conclusion that prisoners don’t like pork, but I find it hard to believe most inmates feel this way. Everything from the snout to the asshole is delicious on a pig. Are you trying to tell me that non-Muslim prisoners don’t like bacon? That’s preposterous.
But wait, the explanation for the pork ban gets sillier:
“People are more health conscious these days. Some people choose to be vegetarian or vegan. That’s their preference,” said Ross.
Oh, I get it. They banned pork because of the vegans in federal prison. That’s an even bigger load of shit than the “they don’t like it” excuse. Are we really supposed to believe that hardcore killers, rapists, and drug dealers are going vegan and are concerned about their health in massive numbers? If this were even remotely true, the Bureau of Prisons would also ban beef, chicken, fish, and all dairy products. For the record, they haven’t.
The obvious answer for the pork ban is that he administration is sensitive to the needs and wants of the Muslim community. Something that spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations Ibrahim Hooper backs up:
“In general we welcome the change because it’s facilitating the accommodation of Muslim inmates,” said Hooper.
Hooper predicted that anti-Islam groups would spin the decision into a case of the federal government acting under pressure from Muslims.
“This is just the kind of thing that drives them crazy. It will stoke the fires of Islamophobia based on the usual conspiracy theories,” said Hooper.
It’s kind of hard not to think this way when we have a President that has difficulty in hiding his allegiance to Islam. Throw in the bullshit explanations for the pork ban and it seems less like a conspiracy theory and more like a conspiracy fact.
