The moving van pulled up in front of the White House yesterday, which is good news for America. Obama’s reign of incompetence is nearing an end. While he will leave behind a legacy of failure there is one amazing thing about him that nobody can ever take away: he has literally been wrong about everything. Foreign policy, the economy, the environment, gun control, race relations, wearing mom jeans — you name it and he was wrong. In fact, just over a year ago he predicted, rather smugly, that Donald Trump would never be president.
Since it’s Throwback Thursday, let’s take the time machine to last February when Obama was on one of his taxpayer-funded fundraising visits to California. The presidential campaign was just entering the primary season, but Obama had read the tea leaves and was certain Trump was going to fail.
“I continue to believe Mr. Trump will not be president, and the reason is because I have a lot of faith in the American people, and I think they recognize that being president is a serious job. It’s not hosting a talk show or a reality show, it’s not promotion, it’s not marketing, it’s hard,” said Obama.
Maybe Obama thinks being president is so hard because he sucks at it. If he were any good at all as a leader, he wouldn’t think the job was so difficult.
After his false prediction, Obama then called Trump an unreasonable anti-science idiot:
“And a lot of people count on us getting it right, and it’s not a matter of pandering and doing whatever gets you in the news on a given day. The other countries around the world, they kind of count on the United States being on the side of science and reason and common sense,” he continued.
Actually, the other countries around the world count on America being strong, not leading form behind the way Obama did.
Finally, Obama adds to his prediction with words that have to be haunting him now:
“The American people are pretty sensible, and I think they’ll make a sensible choice in the end,” said Obama.
Seeing as how Trump was elected 9 months after Obama made this statement, I think it’s safe to assume he now has no faith in the American people and thinks they have no sense. He probably felt that way all along, but now it’s official.
Obviously Obama was incorrect about Trump, but this innate ability to be wrong about everything could really open up some lucrative post-presidential endeavors. He could be a sports odds-maker and get his wife to bet heavily against any of his picks. He could be the “reverse stock broker” advising investors to do the exact opposite of what he recommends. Even better, he could get a job with the media who was as wrong about Trump as he was.
