Yesterday Mediaite addressed the non-controversy involving Ted Cruz and an accidental “like” of a porn link on Twitter by writing: “Ted Cruz Fingers Staffer For Liking Late Night Porn Tweet.” Today nearly everyone is running some variation of this: “Chelsea Manning Named As Fellow.” Chelsea, born Bradly, sold out his country and then his gender becoming a “woman” and now he’s apparently back being a fellow. These are certainly some confusing times we live in.
The truth is, Chelsea Manning has been named a fellow at Harvard University, which doesn’t make this any less of a joke.
In case you aren’t quite sure what the hell a “fellow” is, other than a dude, here’s Wikipedia with an explanation: “The title of research fellow is used to denote an academic research position at a university or a similar institution and is roughly equivalent to the title of lecturer in the teaching career pathway.”
Really? Harvard thinks a gender-bending traitor is worthy of being a lecturer? Of course they do. In fact, this is from their website:
Chelsea E. Manning is a Washington D.C. based network security expert and former U.S. Army intelligence analyst. She speaks on the social, technological and economic ramifications of Artificial Intelligence through her op-ed columns for The Guardian and The New York Times. As a trans woman, she advocates for queer and transgender rights as @xychelsea on Twitter. Following her court martial conviction in 2013 for releasing confidential military and State Department documents, President Obama commuted her 35-year sentence, citing it as “disproportionate” to the penalties faced by other whistleblowers. She served seven years in prison.
I think the last words anyone normal would use to describe Chelsea Manning are “security expert.”
Some of the other fellows Harvard announced include former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign manager Robbie Mook. I’m sensing a theme here:
Chelsea Manning leaks 70,000 classified documents and he/she/it is a security expert. Sean Spicer fumbles as press secretary and is fired months into the job and he is a communications expert. Robbie Mook orchestrated the worst campaign in presidential election history and he’s a campaign expert. These are all losers who have failed spectacularly in their supposed areas of expertise.
Making this event funnier is that Mook is planning on lecturing about the topic of “election cybersecurity.” Gee, didn’t the DNC get hacked and didn’t Hillary illegally mishandle classified materials on her private e-mail server?
The only thing I can think of is that the university is bringing in these fellows to show their students the exact opposite way of doing things right. That however doesn’t appear to be the case as evidenced by this statement from Harvard regarding their choice of fellows:
“Broadening the range and depth of opportunity for students to hear from and engage with experts, leaders and policy-shapers is a cornerstone of the Institute of Politics. We welcome the breadth of thought-provoking viewpoints on race, gender, politics and the media,” said acting director Bill Delahunt.
To be honest, I’m kind of shocked that a leftist politically correct institution like Harvard is still using the offensive and gendered term “fellow.” Why not “lady” or “purple penguin”? Either way, it will be nice for Chelsea Manning to once again be a fellow, even if it’s only for a brief time.
