Liberals carry around a lot of spare outrage, but that’s different than shock. They don’t actually live in the real world, so nothing is generally shocking to them. That is until they learned that a Republican candidate once used a gun to save his own life. This goes against everything liberals falsely believe about guns. Luckily, they have the ability to dismiss facts that run counter to the bullshit they all believe.
The Los Angles Times ran this story and they contributed to the liberal shock with this loaded headline: At gun control forum, Arizona state Senate candidate speaks about shooting his mother
OMG, a Republican running for office shot his mother to death? Those Republicans are so damn evil, aren’t they? That’s what the LA Times wants people to believe, but the story doesn’t quite match the tone of the headline:
A Republican Arizona state Senate candidate has shocked gun control advocates by sharing details about shooting and killing his mother in apparent self-defense more than 50 years ago.
It wasn’t an “apparent” act of self-defense, it was an actual one:
Bobby Wilson, who is running to represent a southern district, told the Associated Press that he’s not trying to hide anything. He says his mother was insane and shot at him with a rifle when he was in bed in their Oklahoma farmhouse one night in 1963. He then shot and killed her. Wilson’s sister also died that night, and the house caught on fire.
Okay, so Wilson’s mother killed his sister, set the house on fire and tried to kill him too but he shot and killed her. That’s exactly what self-defense looks like people.
Wilson wrote about these events in his 2010 book, “Bobby’s Trials,” and mentions them on his website biography. But they caught public interest when he appeared at a Moms Demand Action forum in Tucson this month. Wilson told the crowd he was “living proof” that the only one who can stop someone trying to harm somebody is a “good guy with a gun.”
Not only is Wilson courageous to stand up to his insane mother, he’s the bravest guy on the planet for being pro-gun and showing up to a Mom’s Demand Action forum. Actually, he was probably one of only 3 people their since Moms Demand Action events tend not to draw many people.
Now here’s where that liberal shock turns into normal liberal outrage:
Rep. Daniel Hernandez, a Democrat who represents the district Wilson is running in, was at the forum. He said Gabrielle Giffords, the former congresswoman who was shot in Tucson in 2011, and other gun violence survivors were in the audience. Many were shocked, he said.
Hernandez — who was at the scene when Giffords was shot — said Wilson also brought up the Giffords shooting, saying that she should’ve had security.
“I’ve never ever heard someone be so aggressive in that view, and also to drag Gabby into it, I thought, was so distasteful and so disgusting,” Hernandez said.
So it’s disgusting to say something that is 100% true? Gabby Giffords wouldn’t have a bullet hole in her head right now if she had armed security protecting her. I’m sure even anti-gun Gabby Giffords would prefer that she had never been shot because she had good guys with guns keeping her safe.
And then that liberal outrage turns into liberal stupidity:
Jacob Martinez, an organizer with March for Our Lives AZ, said he thinks Wilson’s experiences as reported show the necessity of providing emotional help to those who need it — and ensuring that guns in homes are locked up.
“He should know better than anybody that something needs to be done, and the fact that he can’t acknowledge that speaks volumes,” said Martinez.
Stay with me on this one, Jake: If the guns were locked up in Wilson’s home 50 years ago, he’d be dead right now. His mother went insane and got a gun while her children slept. She killed her daughter and then tried to do the same to her son. Presumably Wilson’s mother could have unlocked the guns to start her killing rampage, but then he wouldn’t have had access to the firearm that saved his life.
This is just another way liberals show their gun ignorance. A firearm is a tool. In the hands of good people it can and does do good things like save lives. In the hands of a bad people it is used for terrible things. Any effort to curb violence committed with guns can’t be directed at good law-abiding people, but all gun control is designed this way.
