They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Strong-armed robber Michael Brown’s mother is under investigation for…you guessed it, strong-armed robbery. Lesley McSpadden, the mother of the Ferguson, MO slain teen, is accused of leading a group of thugs to steal from vendors selling memorial Michael Brown t-shirts.
The New York Daily News reports that McSpadden led a group of 20-30 people to a parking lot in Ferguson where several vendors were selling “Justice For Mike Brown” merchandise. Angry that she wasn’t getting a piece of the action, McFadden reportedly screamed, “You can’t sell this shit!”
One of the vendors was McSpadden’s former mother-in-law Pearlie Gordon who felt she every right to sell the t-shirts:
Gordon responded that “unless McSpadden could produce documentation stating that she had a patent on her son’s name (Gordon) was going to continue to sell her merchandise,” according to the report.
At this point, negotiations broke down and McSpadden and her gang of trademark enforcement officers tore the place up. Gordon was knocked to the ground and struck in the head numerous times. One person was put in the hospital and another was beaten with a pipe. It’s hard to believe the pipe-beating victim didn’t require hospitalization as well.
McFadden and her thugs took the Michael Brown souvenirs and all of the money the vendors had on hand. The gang ended up stealing $1400 in merchandise and another $400 in cash.
Police are investigating the incident and could arrest McFadden and the others on felony theft and a variety of assault charges.
So that’s how they do things in the ‘hood, huh? No court order, no cops, just show up, beat the hell out of everyone and take what doesn’t belong to them. For a group of people that claim they want justice, they sure don’t seem all that concerned with the law…or civility…or decency.
Gee, I wonder where Michael Brown’s illegal anti-social behavior comes from. Clearly he was taught that if he wants something (like cigars), just take it. And if anyone gets in his way, beat the snot out of them.
The messed up thing here is that the police are probably too afraid of starting more riots and won’t charge McFadden no matter how much evidence points to her guilt. Since her son was shot, the law doesn’t seem to exist for blacks in the Ferguson area. It’s pretty much a free crime zone at this point.
I do think it’s kind of funny, or tasteless, that people are selling bootleg Michael Brown t-shirts like they’re in the parking lot of a Jay-Z concert. My question is, if they are protesting all day and rioting all night and clearly unemployed, where do they get the money to buy t-shirts?
If this is how McFadden and the thug patrol handle a spat over t-shirts I can only imagine their reaction when the grand jury fails to indict the police officer that shot Michael Brown. Ferguson is going to burn to the ground.
