In the months leading up to the 2016 election tons of celebrities threatened to leave the country if Donald Trump was elected. As you may have heard, Trump did indeed defeat Hillary Clinton and was elected President of the United States. You may have also noticed that none of these bullshit Hollywood liberals actually followed through by leaving. Filmmaker Michael Moore is tons of celebrities all by himself and he is now threatening to move to Canada because he can’t take another minute of the Trump presidency.
Moore is promoting his new anti-Trump film in which he compares the President to Adolf Hitler. He was in Canada trying to keep his latest movie from being another colossal flop when CBC reported this:
If things go awry for Michael Moore following the release of his latest politically charged documentary, the progressive provocateur says he has a plan to escape potential persecution in the U.S.: He’s moving to Canada.
It’s a pronouncement so common among aggrieved American liberals that it borders on a political trope. But Moore says he’s serious about his plot to vacate the U.S., and not only because of his long-standing affinity for Canada.
For Moore, the prospect of becoming a political refugee seems starkly plausible under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump, whom he portrays as a geopolitical threat in Fahrenheit 11/9, set to hit theatres Friday.
“(Trump) absolutely hates democracy, and he believes in the autocrat, in the authoritarian. I want us to survive this, but I can’t make any guarantees that that’s what’s going to happen. We’re in a bad place. We’re on the precipice of some very awful stuff,” said Moore.
Here’s the thing about this story, dozens of news outlets are reporting the same thing, but nobody seems to have any kind of quote of Michael Moore actually saying he is thinking about leaving the US to get away from Trump. Did he say he was leaving or at least thinking about it? Probably, because why else would so many places be reporting it?
Michael Moore himself kind of disputes this, but at the same time reinforces that he may be considering a move:
Haha. Me move to Canada?Trump wishes! Let me put it the correct way: I refuse to live in a country where Donald Trump is president — and I’M not leaving. So we’ve got a problem. The only solution is that Trump has to go. He doesn’t have to leave the US. Just a lil’ jail time. https://t.co/IGhu1qMxqg

See what I mean? Moore says he’s not moving to Canada, but that he can’t live in a country with Trump as President. Trump is definitely the President and if Moore can’t live in this reality, then by his own admission he has to leave. He qualifies this by saying that Trump must be put in prison so he can live free in the US. Since Trump hasn’t committed any crimes or even been charged with one, the likelihood that he’s headed to prison is non-existence, so clearly Moore has to leave.
It probably doesn’t matter because Moore, like all liberals, is completely full of shit. Whether he said he’s leaving the US or not is irrelevant because he’d never follow through with it. This is just Moore’s attempt to drum up some interest in his latest horrible film. Maybe he figures if people think he’s moving to Canada, they’ll go see his movie. I don’t understand this logic, but nothing liberals do makes any sense to me.
