For a brief moment there it seemed like that military coup to overthrow President Trump, that the liberals are pinning their hopes on, was happening. Rosie O’Donnell even pried her head out of the feed bucket with excitement, only to have her sad world come crashing back down around her. The Pentagon retweeted a message today that in part called for Donald Trump to resign. Apparently this was just some user error and the United States military is still behind the freely-elected POTUS.
The 5.2 million users who follow the Department of Defense on Twitter got a surprise today, when this thing was retweeted:
Someone calling himself “PROUD RESISTER” wrote:
The solution is simple…
Roy Moore: Step down from the race.
Al Franken: Resign from Congress.
Donald Trump: Resign from the presidency.
GOP: Stop making sexual assault a partisan issue. It’s a crime as is your hypocrisy.
For some reason the person running the DoD Twitter account thought it would be a neat idea to retweet this message. Then, that same person figured out it was probably not the greatest thing on the world for the Pentagon to send a message calling for the current President of the United States to resign and so it was deleted.
So was the DoD account hacked? Maybe by the Russians? No, this was a person who is authorized to use the Twitter account, which kind of makes it worse.
The Chief Pentagon spokesperson sent out a tweet of her own in hopes of explaining this:
An authorized operator of the @DeptofDefense’s official Twitter site erroneously retweeted content that would not be endorsed by the Department of Defense. The operator caught this error and immediately deleted it.

“An authorized operator of the @DeptofDefense’s official Twitter site erroneously retweeted content that would not be endorsed by the Department of Defense. The operator caught this error and immediately deleted it,” wrote Dana W. White.
This explains nothing. Why would anyone at the DoD think it was appropriate to retweet this message? And for that matter, why does the DoD tweet or retweet stupid shit like this in the first place? Shouldn’t their communications with the public be defense related?
Clearly we still have some Obama moles imbedded in the Defense Department. I thought Trump was going to weed these suckers out.
What makes this even dumber is the actual message that was retweeted. That PROUD RESISTER guy, and the authorized operator at the DoD think that Roy Moore and Donald Trump are on the same level as Al Franken.
Moore has been accused of doing inappropriate things with underage girls 40 years ago and there isn’t one piece of even circumstantial evidence that he did. Trump is accused of sexual assault for bragging that women let him do things to them because he’s rich and famous, but the “let” part indicates consent, which isn’t sexual assault at all. Franken on the other hand has admitted to sexually assaulting a woman and there is photographic evidence of it. See the difference?
