While the country is freaking out because a white cop took down a trespassing combative black girl in Texas, a white family was attacked by 30 black teens in Alabama and nobody gives a sh*t. And by nobody I don’t just mean the media and race activists, the local police also don’t care and refuse to classify this assault, that put a man in the hospital, as a hate crime.
WHNT reports that Kevin Dawes and his family were enjoying the First Fridays street fair in Florence, AL last Friday. As they were leaving, a group of 20-30 black teens ran up on Dawes’ 14-year old son Brandon and started punching him in the back of the head. At first Brandon thought someone just tripped into him, but it soon became apparent that he was targeted by a mob assault.
Kevin intervened, getting between his son and the thugs, telling Brandon to get into the family’s minivan. At that point the mob turned on Kevin and beat him severely. They punched, kicked, and struck him dozens of times with stun guns.
Kevin’s wife Juli and their 4-year old child witnessed the attack from the van. Juli said she was helpless to stop the brutal assault and looked on in horror as her husband was on the ground being beaten and shocked. Juli also said the attackers were shouting racial slurs.
“They were saying you know ‘yeah, get that white’ and Tasing and laughing and taunting,” said Juli Dawes.
Before they left, the thugs smashed out the window on the Dawes’ minivan where their 4-year old was sitting. Kevin Dawes received multiple cuts and bruises, a fractured eye socket, and 7 stun gun burns. He has met with a facial surgeon and may need reconstructive surgery.
As bad as that sounds, the police response is almost as horrible:
Florence Police Chief Ron Tyler said they are not ready to identify the assault as a hate crime, or say that it was gang related.
“We are considering all angles,” said Tyler.
So a white family were the victims of an unprovoked attack by up to 30 black teenagers shouting racial slurs and the cops aren’t sure it’s a hate crime? What angles are they still considering?
Actually, there’s an answer to that. AL.com reports:
Investigators were not available to confirm the victim’s race or ethnicity Monday night.
There appears to be some confusion on the part of the police as to whether the Dawes family are actually white. Those are some crack investigators they have there at the Florence PD. It should not come as a shock that no arrests have been made in this case.
America’s selective outrage over racism chooses to freak out over a black girl getting taken down by a white cop in Texas and ignore a horrific assault by a mob of black thugs on a white family.
