We all know that when CNN or Moms Demand Action claims an insanely high number of mass shootings that it’s completely BS, but apparently even the US Government is (or was) reporting a large amount of school shootings that never happened. Get ready for a shock: the over-reporting of school shootings happened when Obama was president. Could it be he wanted to scare people into thinking there was a school shooting epidemic to help pass unconstitutional gun control?
This is from the NPR, which is a reliably leftist source, so there is no “right-wing conspiracy” here:
This spring the U.S. Education Department reported that in the 2015-2016 school year, “nearly 240 schools … reported at least 1 incident involving a school-related shooting.” The number is far higher than most other estimates.
But NPR reached out to every one of those schools repeatedly over the course of three months and found that more than two-thirds of these reported incidents never happened. Child Trends, a nonpartisan nonprofit research organization, assisted NPR in analyzing data from the government’s Civil Rights Data Collection.
And it gets worse:
We were able to confirm just 11 reported incidents, either directly with schools or through media reports.
In 161 cases, schools or districts attested that no incident took place or couldn’t confirm one. In at least four cases, we found, something did happen, but it didn’t meet the government’s parameters for a shooting. About a quarter of schools didn’t respond to our inquiries.
So it’s actually possible that’s there were even less school shootings since a quarter of the schools didn’t respond.
“When we’re talking about such an important and rare event, [this] amount of data error could be very meaningful,” says researcher Deborah Temkin.
Meaningful as in whoever was in charge of the government in 2015 tried to push an agenda using false information? Yes, I suppose that would be meaningful.
This fake 240 school shootings is even faker than the fake numbers from anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group:
For comparison, the Everytown for Gun Safety database, citing media reports, listed just 29 shootings at K-12 schools between mid-August 2015 and June 2016.
As it was stated, NPR could only find 11 legitimate school shootings in 2015, which is less than Everytown claims happened. Let’s keep in mind that a school shooting is defined by the discharge of a firearm on school property and doesn’t mean there were any fatalities, or that it even happened when school was in session.
While the NPR confirmed that most of these school shootings never happened, some incidents were misclassified and none is worse than this:
At Redan Middle School, there is a report of a toy cap gun fired on a school bus — not a shooting.
Hey, Everytown and moms Demand Action would call that a school shooting.
Making this the dumbest thing ever, the survey in which schools reported these nonexistent campus shootings also had questions about racism. If you’ve ever seen some uppity liberal claiming that black students are punished more than white students, that data comes from this same survey. I think it’s safe to say that all of the information provided by the schools is wildly inaccurate.
Now all we have to do is sit back and wait for the mainstream liberal media to pick up this story and put people’s minds at ease that the threat of school shootings is almost nonexistent. I have feeling we’ll be waiting a long time on that, so maybe we can order a pizza or something.
