Started by Colin Kaepernick and picked up by many others, NFL players took a knee during the National Anthem before games to protest, according to them, police brutality. What does The Star Spangled Banner have to do with police? You’ll have to ask the protesters. The perception of these disrespectful displays were that the players were essentially sticking up a middle finger to America and NFL viewership and attendance suffered. The league finally wised up and said players must stand, but now the NFL Players Association has filed a grievance so their members can continue to sink the league.
What is is with leftists and grievances? They have a problem with everything and maybe it’s time they realize they are the problem. The NFLPA isn’t quite to that point yet and they still insist everything everyone else does is the issue. Here’s a press release to prove it:
Our union filed its non-injury grievance today on behalf of all players challenging the NFL’s recently imposed anthem policy. The union’s claim is that this new policy, imposed by the NFL’s governing body without consultation with the NFLPA, is inconsistent with the collective bargaining agreement and infringes on player rights.
In advance of our filing today, we proposed to the NFL to begin confidential discussions with the NFLPA Executive Committee to find a solution to this issue instead of immediately proceeding with litigation. The NFL has agreed to proceed with those discussions and we look forward to starting them soon.
The phrase “don’t shit where you eat” isn’t just a funny saying, it’s good advice. If the NFLPA forces the league to reverse its National Anthem policy and the players are once again allowed to disrespect this country, it will chase away even more fans. With less interest in the league, there will be less money coming in. You don’t have to have an economics degree to understand that if the league makes less money, teams will pay players less money too.
The NFLPA thinks it’s so important to let the players kneel during the National Anthem that they are willing to destroy the entire league over it. This is yet another reason why labor unions are bullshit. This isn’t about getting fair wages or better working conditions, it’s a power play. Someone should remind them that their members are paid millions to play a game and without the NFL they are all unemployable losers.
Any other place of employment has standards of conduct, so why shouldn’t professional football? A Walmart employee can’t show up to work in a pink pussy hat screaming about abortion being a life-saving women’s health issue, and football players shouldn’t be allowed to wipe their asses with the American flag. You wanna be an asshole? Do it on your own time.
