More fake news? Probably, but the anonymously sourced bombshell from the New York Times is certainly going to feed the narrative that there is a deep state conspiracy against Donald Trump. The NYT is reporting that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein wanted to wear a wire to catch Trump in some kind of malfeasance and even tried to get his cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would remove Trump from office. So yeah, the NYT is saying that Rosenstein tried to orchestrate a coup against the President of the United States.
Relying on their anonymous sources, the NYT said that after Trump fired incompetent FBI director James Comey, Rod Rosenstein was upset and wanted to take the President down. He considered wearing a wire and recording Trump saying incriminating things. Rosentein then allegedly tried to recruit Cabinet members, like Attorney General Jeff Sessions and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, who was the Director of Homeland Security at the time, to invoke the 25th Amendment, ruling Trump incapable of performing the duties of the President.
Though the proof for this is a bunch of unnamed people who wish to remain anonymous, the NYT times says the people making these accusations learned of this sinister Rosenstein plot by viewing memos written by then-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who was also fired by Trump for gross incompetence.
The only person actually named in this NYT piece of fiction, Rod Rosenstein, was quick to call bullshit:
“The New York Times’s story is inaccurate and factually incorrect. I will not further comment on a story based on anonymous sources who are obviously biased against the department and are advancing their own personal agenda. But let me be clear about this: Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment,” said Rosenstein in a statement.
I’m probably not the only one who sees what’s going on here, but obviously the NYT is trying to get Trump to fire Rosenstein and probably also Attorney General Jeff Sessions. They are also hoping that Trump will fire special counsel Robert Mueller who is allegedly investigating the President for colluding with the Russians to steal the 2016 election.
The truth of the matter is, Mueller hasn’t found any evidence of collusion and he never will because the whole thing was a story cooked up by democrats. It will eventually be embarrassing when Mueller delivers his final report that say he ain’t got shit. However, if Trump were to fire Mueller before the completion of his garbage investigation, liberals can say that it is proof Trump is guilty of collusion.
Liberals desperately want a Nixon-style “Saturday Night Massacre” in which Trump fires all of the people who are possibly investigating him. This would allow democrats to call a Constitutional crisis and push the idea of impeaching President Trump without any actual evidence of a crime. The democrats don’t have the numbers for impeachment, but are hoping they will following the midterms.
This NYT ploy appears to be timed to make Trump and the Republicans look bad ahead of the midterms, in hopes of giving the Democrats a leg up in the elections.
This is precisely why Trump calls the liberal fake news industry “the enemy of the American people.” The New York Times is trying to bring down the person Americans chose to lead them with a bogus anonymously-sourced piece of bullshit.
