Fresh off releasing thousands of “non-violent” criminals from federal prison, Obama wants to insure that scumbags never really pay their debts to society. The President is poised to sign some executive orders that forbid employers from inquiring about an applicant’s criminal history and give federal funds to make convicts’ lives much easier.
“Ban the box” is a liberal war cry that wants to remove that little box on a job application asking if a prospective employee has ever been convicted of a crime. Obama will ban the box for all federal employers, making it forbidden for bosses to know if their workers are dangerous criminals or untrustworthy scum. The federal government is already an inefficient clusterf*ck, so forcing it to hire drug dealers, rapists, and armed robbers should really help make it a stronger service provider.
The Huffington Post reports:
Civil rights activists have urged Obama to propose the measure, noting that such questions can limit the ability for people with a criminal record to gain employment and get their lives back on track after prison. Advocates argue that those formerly in prison should be allowed to prove their qualifications for a job instead of being eliminated early in the process due to their criminal background.
The issue has come up on the campaign trail, with all three Democratic presidential candidates pledging support for a “ban the box” policy.
Yeah, perish the thought that their should be some negative consequences for breaking the law.
Here’s a valid question: if employers have no right to know if an applicant is a criminal, why does the government have a right to know if someone buying a gun is a criminal? I’m not saying felons should be allowed to purchase firearms; I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy on the left concerning a person’s background.
But Obama is not done bending over backwards to appease the criminal class; he also wants to throw scads of taxpayer funds at them:
Obama will also announce other initiatives designed to improve rehabilitation and re-entry for former inmates, including education and housing grants, as well as partnerships between local municipalities and private companies that would provide jobs and training in technology.
Hey, you know who deserves that money more than criminals? Law-abiding people like veterans and everyone who lost their job because of Obama’s ridiculous EPA regulations. Why not focus helping the people that actually contribute to our society instead of dirtbag criminals that have done nothing but take?
Here’s the thing: Obama is saying that non-violent offenders deserve a second chance. Well, theft, fraud, embezzlement, and even collecting child pornography are non-violent offenses. There’s a pretty good reason why employers might not want these types of people handing their money, merchandise, or dealing with their customers.
Putting all of Obama’s “justice reforms” together and he’s basically saying that lawbreakers should not be punished for their crimes. In fact, he wants to reward people who chose to break the law with sweet government perks and entitlements.
Criminals already re-offend at a ridiculously high rate. Taking the “punishment” out of our crime and punishment justice system is only going to drive recidivism rates higher and make the public less safe.
