President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani said the words “truth isn’t truth” on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday and naturally the left is losing it’s collective mind. They think this is the ultimate spin, wrapped in a lie, and sealed with a kiss from George Orwell. The thing is, liberals have cherry-picked this line and are ignoring the context in which it was used because that’s how they stoke outrage. What Giuliani was really saying is that Robert Mueller, who is investigating the President for obstruction of justice, has his version of the truth that may be different than Trump’s version.
In reaction to Giuliani’s “truth isn’t truth” line, here are all the usual suspects with their half-truth outrage:
The Hill: Giuliani warns of perjury trap: ‘Truth isn’t truth’
The HuffPo: Rudy Giuliani Stuns NBC’s Chuck Todd: ‘Truth Isn’t Truth’
Law & Crime (Mediaite): ‘Truth Isn’t Truth’: Giuliani Talks Perjury, Host Laughs at Him in Strange Interview
And “dumbest guy in Congress” Ted Lieu wanted to get in on the fun too by tweeting: The statement by Rudy Giuliani that “truth isn’t truth” is another step towards authoritarianism. It also reminds us of Nixon’s defense that “when the president does it, that means it is not illegal.”
Okay, you get the idea, the left is going bonkers over this quote. Now let’s check out the whole conversation:

Meet the press host “Sleepy Eyes” Chuck Todd asked Giuliani why he was delaying a meeting between President Trump and special counsel Robert Mueller.
“I’m not going to be rushed into having him testify so he gets trapped into perjury,” said Giuliani. “And when you tell me that he should testify because he’s going to tell the truth and he shouldn’t worry, well that’s so silly because that’s somebody’s version of the truth, not the truth,” Giuliani said.
“Truth is truth,” said Chuck Todd.
“No it isn’t. Truth isn’t truth,” Giuliani said.
“Mr. Mayor … this is going to become a bad meme,” Todd shot back.
As you can see in this context, Giuliani is clearly saying that Mueller’s team has their version of things and Trump has his. He’s not actually saying that true things are not true. he’s pointing out that Mueller has developed a narrative that is different than the President’s. That’s it.
Giuliani went on to explain that Mueller’s narrative is based on discredited sources like noted perjurer ex-FBI head James Comey and that it’s in opposition to what Trump says. Giuliani also pointed out that Mueller is taking Comey’s “truth” over Trump’s word.
This is just another example of the left taking something Trump-related completely out-of-context to smear the President. It’s like when the left was screaming that Trump called all immigrants “animals” even though he was clearly talking about the murderous street gang MS-13. It’s a lie and in this case, a lie is a lie.
