Robert Mueller is the special counsel investigating collusion between Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia to steal the 2016 presidential election. Well, that’s what he supposed to be investigating, but since he can’t find any evidence of Russian collusion, he seems focused on the President’s sex life. Though Trump has stated a million times that he has no intention of firing Mueller, democrats are constantly warning of the “Constitutional crisis” that will arise when he does. As such, democrats and RINOs on the Senate Judiciary committee just passed a bill that would protect Mueller from being fired by Trump.
This is from The Hill:
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved legislation on Thursday to protect special counsel Robert Mueller.
In a 14-7 vote, the panel approved the bipartisan proposal that deeply divided Republicans on the committee.
With every committee Democrat backing the legislation, only one Republican was needed to secure passage.
Now here’s some false reporting:
In the end, four Republicans voted for the bill: Sens. Thom Tillis (N.C.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Jeff Flake (Ariz.).
Republican Sens. Orrin Hatch (Utah), Mike Lee (Utah), John Cornyn (Texas), Mike Crapo (Idaho), Ben Sasse (Neb.), John Kennedy (La.) and Ted Cruz (Texas) opposed it.
Sorry, Lindsey Graham and Jeff Flake are not Republicans. The Hill should print a correction.
The bill, sponsored by Tillis and Graham (R-S.C.) with Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Christopher Coons (D-Del.), would codify Department of Justice regulations that say only a senior Department of Justice official can fire Mueller or another special counsel.
It would give a special counsel an “expedited review” of their firing. If a court determines that it wasn’t for “good cause,” the special counsel would be reinstated.
Isn’t it peculiar that this bill was passed by people who say it is necessary to protect the rule of law and the Constitution? The Justice Department is under the President’s control, not Congress. What this bill does is take the President’s Constitutional authority away by banning him from making personnel decisions in his own administration.
Not only is this bill unconstitutional, it’s a liberal power grab facilitated by people who claim to be Republicans. Try to imagine any democrats working with Republicans to limit Obama’s power. It never happened and it never would have. That would have been some straight-up racism, yo.
Dianne Feinstein, author of the Clinton-era assault weapons ban, thinks this bill is just fine however, and we all know her record of respecting the Constitution:
“We have a piece of legislation that I believe will stand the test of time and will also stand the test of scrutiny,” said Feinstein.
Unless this is an actual Constitutional amendment, which it is not, Congress can’t just take power away from the Executive branch. Anyone with a 5th grade level of knowledge on civics understands this, which is another way of saying that Feinstein is not smarter than a 5th grader.
This attack on the US Constitution heads to the full Senate for a vote where hopefully it die faster than Graham and Flake’s credibility.
Just for fun, Trump should fire Mueller immediately, before the Senate even has a chance to vote. If you want to see some heads explode, this will do it. No one the left would be able to handle Donald Trump exercising his presidential authority.
