It’s bad enough the liberals want to eliminate our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, but now one of them is demanding that all children be banned from keeping and bearing water guns. Seriously, squirt gun control is now a thing. The reason behind this is because a leftist nut thinks squirt guns “normalize” actual guns. I say a better argument could be made that liberalism normalizes idiocy.
Lauren Levy is a gun hating kook and to prove it she wrote an article for POPSUGAR titled: Why Kids Should Never Play With Water Guns. Period.
Levy tells us how she grew up with a mother who didn’t let her play with squirt guns and you know how liberals are, you have to be like them or you are a fascist.
This water gun ban had nothing to do with water shooting toys in general (though with four kids running around it would’ve made sense that she didn’t want the water wars) and everything to do with her firm belief that guns are not toys.
We didn’t have a gun in our home, but I think my mom’s passionate stance on water guns is even more important for those who do. A gun is a serious and powerful object that can permanently destroy lives. The sooner people start taking this topic seriously, the safer our children will be.
Now get ready to laugh:
Even if they’re colorful and super cool, kids shouldn’t be playing with water guns because it normalizes the real thing. Kids need to learn that guns aren’t toys. There’s nothing fun or playful about this serious topic and it doesn’t matter if it’s a water pistol or a semi-automatic rifle — a firearm isn’t a laughing matter.
Yes, she actually just wrote that a squirt gun is as deadly as a real firearm. Just in case you didn’t quite get her point, she makes it again:
These “toys” are also sending mixed messages and diluting the most important ones: guns are no joke. Guns aren’t innocent, even if they are “harmless” and in plastic form. These are weapons that can end lives, and as much as we want to teach our kids about gun control and safety, we contradict ourselves the second we allow them to run around with toy versions to shoot their friends.
She’s totally serious about this:
Popular water guns also make light of a very serious situation. There are some children who will never smile again — all because someone picked up a gun. At the same time, we have little ones playing and laughing over the very thing that is killing other kids. It just isn’t right.
And here’s what she means about squirt guns normalizing real guns:
If a child becomes familiar and comfortable playing toy gun, what’s going to stop their inquisitive hand from reaching out for the real thing if it ever crosses his or her path?
I wonder if this looney-bird can cite any studies to back up her theory that playing with squirt guns leads to accidental shootings among children. Actually, I don’t wonder that because I know that no such study exists. This is all based on her anti-gun feelings, which is pretty much how all gun control works: no facts, just emotion.
Playing with Hot Wheels doesn’t turn kids into car thieves and playing Cowboys and Indians doesn’t turn them into Native Americans, except for Elizabeth Warren. There is absolutely no correlation between squirt guns and accidental gun deaths.
In fact, “normalizing” firearms has the exact opposite effect. Kids who are taught proper gun safety and respect for the power of a firearm are less likely to misuse them. Kids that are denied access to toy guns look at them as taboo and almost always do something stupid when the get their hands on one.
