California, like the entire Southwest, is in the midst of a severe drought. As such, Gov. Jerry Brown has declared an emergency and is asking (commanding) Californians to use less water. Everyone here is going to have to cut back on lawn watering, car washing, and pool filling. This wouldn’t be much of an issue if the state didn’t have an enormous illegal alien population straining the water supply, but I guess they figure it’s better for legal resident’s to bear the brunt of the responsibility.
Think about it. There are nearly 3 million illegal aliens living in California, and that doesn’t include the millions of “anchor babies” that also reside here. The number of anchor babies is hard to calculate, but the kindest of estimates puts one anchor baby per illegal immigrant, so let’s set the number at 3 million. That makes 6 million people, who shouldn’t even be in this country, living in California and using up our resources.
If the government would enforce the law, the water drought wouldn’t even be an issue. There would be plenty to go around. Instead, we have a massive group of illegal people literally draining our water reserves. Gov. Brown wants Californians to use 20% less water, which is approximately the percentage of the population that is illegal. Get rid of the undocumented and the problem is solved.
Of course, that’s not how things are done in California or with the Obama administration. Illegal aliens are a protected class of people that have rights beyond what an American citizen has. And let’s face it; they are not going to participate in the “voluntary” reduction in water use. They don’t give a sh*t about the society they live in and will do whatever the hell they want. They’ve been empowered by the liberal politicians and feel entitled to take and take without ever giving back.
California, especially the Southern portion of the state, is not a place that is naturally equipped to support a population of 38 million. Southern California is a desert and relies too much on Mother Nature and an antiquated aqueduct system to deliver water to its people. When the rain stops falling and the population grows, the drought problem gets worse.
There actually is another pretty simple solution to the water shortage: build desalinization plants. We have this big thing called the Pacific Ocean next to us. All we need to do is take out the salt and there’s plenty of fresh water for everyone. Unfortunately, California’s whacko environmental laws make that an impossibility. They’ve been trying for decades to build a desalinization plant just north of San Diego but the concern is that the seawater intake might suck in some small fish so the project is a no go.
Get rid of the illegal aliens? Can’t do it. There are just here seeking a better life. Build a desalinization plant? Think of the fish, won’t somebody think of the little fish? If you want California politics in a nutshell, this is it: We have a serious problem with two viable solutions. We will do neither of those things and hope everything turns out okay.
Illegal immigration costs this country billions every year in entitlements, education, incarceration, and health care. But there is another cost that isn’t calculated in dollars: freedom, safety and quality of life. Someone who comes to this country illegally to seek a better life does not have the right to make my life worse. Well, in theory anyways. The reality is that our government has failed us and we all have to suck it up.
