Liberal cable news channel CNN has come under fire for not only pushing fake news but also substituting anti-Trump opinion for hard news. With viewership down and public trust at an all time low, the network took a bold move to restore faith by hiring a Muppet to provide some foreign policy analysis. I’m not kidding about this: Elmo was on CNN with commentary on Trump’s immigration policies.
On Monday CNN held a panel discussion about the Supreme Court restoring most of President Trump’s travel ban on certain terrorist-sponsoring nations. So far so good. This is a legitimate thing to talk about and a newsworthy subject. Unfortunately, that panel included a Sesame Street character so their credibility took a nose-dive.
Do yourself a favor and watch this video. CNN report Clarissa Ward interviews Elmo like he’s a real person and it couldn’t be any more hilarious if it tried. Elmo talks about how he went to a Syrian refugee camp in Jordan and learned that everyone is the same.
“Did you find that the Syrian little girls and little boys were a lot like your friends here in America?” Ward asked the Muppet.
“Yeah, they really were. It was very interesting because they like to play and learn just like Elmo and all of his friends at Sesame Street,” replied Elmo.
You see, we should let all people from the Middle East into out country without vetting them because Elmo says so. In case your heartstrings haven’t yet been tugged, Elmo tried to yank them some more:
“Elmo thinks it’s important to know that everybody is the same deep down and that’s very important,” Elmo said.
Even those Muslims who kill innocent people in the name of their religion? Are they the same as everyone else deep down? What about the ones who behead people or mutilate the genitals of little girls?
Elmo don’t give a shit about terrorism, he wants everyone, including jihadists to be able to come to the US:
“It was really sad because Elmo’s new friends told Elmo that they had to leave their homes because it wasn’t safe for them to stay and that made Elmo really sad and sometimes a bit scared.”
If you don’t want Elmo to be sad, you better muster up some outrage at President Trump’s policy of not letting terrorists into this country.
Seeing this makes me wonder what the reaction would be if Fox News had Oscar the Grouch on analyzing the stock market. I’m pretty sure liberals would ridicule the network, but none of them have a problem with Elmo commenting on foreign policy and immigration. This is yet another reason why no liberal should ever be taken seriously.
When your network is busted for pushing fake news and has a reputation for extremely biased reporting, the last way to regain the public’s trust is to have a Muppet as a political analyst. This video was actually posted by CNN, which means they are very proud of this. I can’t wait for Anderson Cooper to debate healthcare with Big Bird.
