For whatever reason the message of equality from the 1960’s civil rights movement is completely lost on the new generation. They want separate but equal facilities for minorities and in many case separate but unequal rules. The Western Kentucky University Student Government Association juts passed a resolution to give free tuition to all black people, because charging them the same thing as everyone else is apparently “white supremacy.”
This is more of the same silliness and I almost didn’t write about it, but something caught my eye. This is from the BG Daily News:
SGA senators Andrea Ambam and Brian Anderson wrote the resolution. Anderson said he and Ambam talked a lot about overcoming racial inequality as a society in drafting the resolution. He said they were inspired by a similar resolution endorsed by students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. (my emphasis)
Wait a second. I’m Brian Anderson not this SJW imposter! The real Brian Anderson would never advocate for something this racist and unfair. How dare he sully this awesome name with a completely idiotic and useless gesture like this.
Well, as long as we are here, let’s check out what this fake Brian Anderson wants to do. Here are some highlights from his resolution:
The resolution’s authors contend that financial aid isn’t enough to cover the costs of college, that people of color are underrepresented among WKU’s tenured faculty and administrators and that such factors send a “message to students of color that they are undervalued at our university.”
If you let certain people attend college for free, doesn’t that send a message that you don’t value them very much? You’re saying you are too poor and worthless to exist under the same rules everyone else follows. It’s not a compliment to let black people know they can only go to Western Kentucky if they get a handout.
“To their white counterparts, their expectation is that people of color work at the lowest levels of the organizations they lead,” the resolution reads.
I’m not even sure what that means, but it sounds like an angry response to some mythical racism so I included it.
The resolution also states that “standardized tests perpetuate and uphold white supremacy.”
“It is clear from research that students and families do not understand what this means, and that the use of test scores in admissions is a defining attribute of the institution and prominent piece of our image,” the resolution reads. “Additionally, the ‘arms race’ for merit aid only bars the low-income and minority students from attending Western Kentucky University.”
Wow, that’s even crazier. Not only won’t black people have to pay tuition, they won’t even be held to a basic minimum standard of academics to get accepted. Somehow I feel like non-black students are going to be a bit miffed if the school suddenly becomes flooded with poor ignorant people who have no business being in college in the first place. In fact, considering there are tens of thousand of other universities to choose from, I imagine that students with good test scores who will be paying their own tuition will choose another school to attend.
The university responded to this nonsense resolution by saying they will not be doing these things. They did say however that they are working hard to boost their minority enrollment numbers, so it’s possible they will adopt some of the resolution’s ideas on the downlow.
In the meantime I’d like to invite fake Brian Anderson to change his name to avoid any further confusion. He can go by B. Anderson, SJW Anderson, Loony Tunes Anderson, or anything else he can come up with. Judging by this resolution, he has a vivid imagination so I’m sure coming up with a new justice-inspired name won’t be a problem.
