An asshole Bernie Bro shot and wounded Republican Rep. Steve Scalise in Alexandria, VA today. Instead of blaming the toxic leftist ideology behind the assassination attempt liberals are naturally blaming guns. Virginia Governor Terry MacAuliffe exploited the shooting to say it proves there are too many guns on the street. To drive his point home, he kept saying that 93 million Americans are killed by guns every day. Yeah, he’s a democrat.
Immediately after House Majority Whip Scalise was shot, the VA Governor assembled a press conference to push gun control. A reporter asked MacAuliffe if anything needed to be done to better protect our elected officials.
“Well, let me say this; I think we need to do more to protect all of our citizens. I have long advocated – this is not what today is about – but there are too many guns on the street. We lose 93 million Americans today to gun violence,” said MacAuliffe.
Really? 93 million Americans are shot to death every single day? There’s about 325 million people in this country so that would mean that the entire population of America would be wiped out in less than a week; three and a half days to be more specific. Well, that is assuming that the birth rate isn’t somewhere near 93 million babies born every day, which I’m pretty sure is not the case.
MacAuliffe continued to insist his gun control lecture wasn’t a gun control lecture.
“I’ve long talked about this. Background checks, shutting down gun show loopholes, but that is not for today’s discussion,” said MacAuliffe.
One of the reporters actually called MacAuliffe out on his bullshit asking if it wasn’t the time to discuss gun control, why the governor was discussing gun control. The answer was as bad as you can imagine.
“With 93 million people a day, it’s just something…” stared MacAuliffe.
Finally one of the reporters interrupted MacAuliffe and pointed out that 93 million was a rather large number of people to die every day from getting shot. MacAuliffe said “93 million” again and then thought about for a second. He eventually came around to the fact that his crazy number was way off and settled on saying 93 people were killed every day by guns.
Even getting it right, he was still wrong. 93 people are not killed every day by guns. 93 people a day may actually die, but they are killed by murderers or themselves. Guns are intimate objects that don’t do anything unless someone manipulates them.
Though the purpose of the press conference was to talk about the attempted assassination of a Member of Congress, MacAuliffe never mentioned Steve Scalise, nor did he address the leftist ideology of the gunman. He never expressed concern for Scalise, but he did talk about all of the great things he has done as governor of Virginia and of course gun control. This is a prime example of how truly shitty democrats are.
