Here’s a story that blows a couple of liberal narratives out of the water. The left insists that voter fraud is simply nonexistent and that the “racist” Trump administration only deports minorities. Well, a white non-citizen voted illegally and is now facing deportation to his native England. Voter fraud does exist and white Europeans do get deported.
The Kansas City Star reports:
His supporters say the Rev. David Boase was thrilled earlier this year when an immigration official said he had completed all steps to U.S. citizenship, short of taking the oath.
Later, however, a government letter broke the news that will culminate in a hearing next week in Kansas City: citizenship denied. You need to go back to England.
While processing the final papers on Boase’s path to citizenship, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services discovered that the retired Episcopal priest made the grave mistake of voting — just once — in a 2006 election.
The thing is, this guy actually ratted himself out, not realizing that non-US citizens can’t vote:
Boase’s lawyer in St. Louis, David Cox, said Thursday that the priest was a green-card holder — legally in the U.S. for as long as he desired — and had truthfully answered all questions in applying for citizenship. That included an acknowledgment he had once voted, thinking it was OK.
Here’s a fair question: If Boase thought it was cool for him to vote, why did he only cast one ballot back in 2006? I’m guessing he probably voted more than that, but is trying to downplay the level of his lawlessness.
Boase’s explanation for why he voted illegally raises some serious questions about the integrity of our elections:
Boase, who migrated 14 years ago to Illinois to serve Episcopal churches, told USCIS he was unaware at the time that only citizens can cast ballots in federal elections. Moreover, Boase said he agreed to register while obtaining his driver’s license at a state Department of Motor Vehicles office, after presenting his British passport as identification.
A DMV supervisor directed him to sign up to become a voter.
Many states, like California, automatically register people to vote when they get a driver’s license. Many states, like California, let illegal aliens get driver’s licenses. Is there anyone out there who actually believes that illegal aliens aren’t voting?
Boase has decided not to fight the charge of voting illegally and will voluntarily deport himself. This way, he can reenter the United States in a few years. It turns out he is retired and living off of government assistance, which busts another liberal narrative that foreigners don’t come here to take advantage of our generous social programs.
If this guy was an illegal alien from Mexico, convicted of several violent felonies, liberals would be pitching a fit, calling Present Trump’s immigration policies cruel and inhumane. The ACLU would almost certainly file a lawsuit to keep him for being deported. I suspect that because he’s white and from England, the left can’t muster any of its usual outrage. That he committed voter fraud is also a contributing factor to the left;s disinterest in his case. The last thing liberals want is to draw any attention to the fact that voter fraud is a real problem in this country.
The good news here is that this is the least horrifying story about a priest breaking the law in a long time.
