Last night on Fox Business News, Lou Dobbs reported about a college student banned from handing out copies of the Constitution on campus. To add insult to injury, he was banned from doing this on Constitution Day.
The college in question is Modesto Junior College. The student says that he was passing out copies of the United States Constitution in an effort to “generate interest” in starting a Young Americans for Liberty chapter on campus.
Wow. That sounds threatening.
In defense of the campus bigwigs, liberty is threatening to the statists who infest academia. This is because people who embrace freedom tend to vote against Democrats.
The administrators and the campus police at the college told the student that he was not allowed to distribute copies of the Constitution while he was out of a “free speech zone”. We’re not certain why someone needs a “free speech zone” to distribute copies of the supreme law of our land, but maybe if he was distributing it without the Bill of Rights (especially the Second Amendment), they would be more accommodating.
