Texas Democratic sensation Wendy Davis is getting pretty desperate for votes these days.
This is because she lives in a state redder than a stop sign and she’s made a name for herself by advertising the fact that she’s an abortion rights extremist. As a State Senator, she (unsuccessfully) filibustered common sense abortion restrictions in The Lone Star State and immediately became a heroine to the bitter feminists who feel at home in the Democratic party.
Well, that kind of extremism doesn’t go over to well among Texans who derive their philosophies from homespun wisdom as opposed to Marxist dogma that seems to be only welcome in university classrooms and on the set of certain MSNBC programs.
In a nutshell, she has to balance out her leftist extremism with something that conservatives can appreciate.
She believes that the best way to do this is to take a public stand in favor of open carry. Of course, if you really believe that she supports open carry then you’re a boob. She’s just doing it for show.
That kind of political strategy works for some people (like Bill Clinton, but he did it much more skillfully), but it’s unlikely to throw any votes her way in Texas. Those good ol’ folks now a charlatan when they see one.
That’s why she’ll lose.
