By now the whole world knows that Senate Republicans successfully mounted a filibuster against a minimum wage increase yesterday. This has, unsurprisingly, earned them quite a bit of criticism from left-wing activists.
Also unsurprisingly, they’ve been accused of being racist for opposing the minimum wage.
We say that the accusation of racism is unsurprising not because it was deserved, but because that’s what we’ve come to expect from liberals these days. When they have no intelligent argument in their favor (about 90% of the time it seems), they simply resort to their favorite mantra: an accusation of racial discrimination against minorities.
MSNBC’s Ed Schultz took to his own air yesterday to accuse the Republicans of being racist for having the audacity to block a minimum wage increase that would cost people their jobs. He also tied his accusations of racism to current events. He said that they were every bit as racist as Cliven Bundy and Donald Sterling.
Hey, Schultz can say what he wants about the Senate Republicans, but they weren’t on the verge of giving Donald Sterling a lifetime achievement award. Unlike, say, the NAACP.
We have to admit that it’s almost fun to watch liberals unravel like this. They have nothing going for them in the way of a sound rationale for their position, so they just resort to a card that they have played, sometimes successfully, so many times in the past.
