Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders wouldn’t answer a simple question.
While speaking with Jimmy Kimmel the other night, Sanders made it a point to use the phrase “God forbid” when talking about the possibility that Republicans could win an election.
Later, Kimmel reminded Sanders that he said that and asked him what he thinks about the existence of a deity.
“You say you’re culturally Jewish and you don’t feel religions,” Kimmel said. “Do you believe in God and do you think that’s important to the people of the United States?”
“I am who I am, and what I believe in and what my spirituality is about is that we’re all in this together,” Sanders said, apparently under the impression that he actually answered the question
.”I think it is not a good thing to believe as human beings we can turn our backs on the suffering of other people,” he continued.
Okay. But do you believe in God?
“And this is not Judaism, this is what Pope Francis is talking about, that we cannot worship just billionaires and the making of more and more money.” Sanders said.
Sure. What about whether or not you believe in God?
“Life is more than that.”
