And all this time we were under the impression that wars were won by killing the enemy.
Marie Harf, the assistant spokesnut for the State Department who looks like she should be on her way to English 101 at Brown University, appeared with Chris Matthews last night to discuss the administration’s response to the threat of ISIS.
“We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them,” Harf said. “So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war.”
We have to admire her for thinking outside of the box. Why didn’t anyone before her ever think about trying to win a war without killing people?
Well, since we can’t win the war against ISIS by killing them, what can we do? Fortunately, Harf has a solution for that: full employment.
“We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs,” she said.
Later, she said: “We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people.”
That should solve everything.
