Another day, another CNN fake news story…
It’s only been a week after the champagne corks were popped after the president’s former personal attorney Michael Cohen copped a plea with the feds and made it known that he was ready to serve as a stool pigeon to rogue special counsel Robert Mueller.
Members of The Resistance were practically wetting their pants in anticipation that Cohen would be the one who finally took down Trump and especially after CNN’s July blockbuster that the disgraced snitch could finger the POTUS for having advance knowledge of that 2016 Trump Tower meeting that was clearly a setup.
According to the original story by Jim Sciutto and Watergate cadaver Carl Bernstein, “Cohen claims Trump knew in advance of 2016 Trump Tower meeting”:
Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, claims that then-candidate Trump knew in advance about the June 2016 meeting in Trump Tower in which Russians were expected to offer his campaign dirt on Hillary Clinton, sources with knowledge tell CNN. Cohen is willing to make that assertion to special counsel Robert Mueller, the sources said.
Cohen’s claim would contradict repeated denials by Trump, Donald Trump Jr., their lawyers and other administration officials who have said that the President knew nothing about the Trump Tower meeting until he was approached about it by The New York Times in July 2017.
Cohen alleges that he was present, along with several others, when Trump was informed of the Russians’ offer by Trump Jr. By Cohen’s account, Trump approved going ahead with the meeting with the Russians, according to sources.
To be clear, these sources said Cohen does not have evidence, such as audio recordings, to corroborate his claim, but he is willing to attest to his account.
Contacted by CNN, one of Cohen’s attorneys, Lanny Davis, declined to comment.
But a funny thing happened on the way to Cohen’s deal with Mueller that would end with the indictment of the sitting President Of The United States: the story was a fabrication.
Cohen lawyer and Clinton crime family consigliere Lanny Davis fessed up that he was the “anonymous source” that CNN based its story on and that the information “got mixed up” and that he “unintentionally misspoke” which in layman’s terms can be translated to “I lied” and once again, CNN was busted.
The story began to unravel after Davis admitted to other news organizations including the Washington Post and BuzzFeed that he was indeed the source despite only days before, denying it while ON CNN.
Not to be deterred, the self-proclaimed “most trusted name in news” is standing by their debunked scoop.
CNN, Credibly Accused of Lying to its Audience About a Key Claim in its Blockbuster Cohen Story, Refuses to Comment https://t.co/6mmNtkY5dU

According to a scathing story by Pulitzer Prize winner Glenn Greenwald of The Intercept, “CNN, Credibly Accused of Lying to its Audience About a Key Claim in its Blockbuster Cohen Story, Refuses to Comment”:
CNN’s blockbuster July 26 story – that Michael Cohen intended to tell Special Counsel Robert Mueller that he was present when Donald Trump was told in advance about his son’s Trump Tower meeting with various Russians – includes a key statement about its sourcing that credible reporting now suggests were designed to have misled its audience. Yet CNN simply refuses to address the serious ethical and journalistic questions raised about its conduct.
The substance of the CNN story itself regarding Cohen – which made headline news all over all the world and which CNN hyped as a “bombshell” – has now been retracted by other news outlets that originally purported to “confirm” CNN’s story. That’s because the anonymous source for this confirmation, Cohen lawyer Lanny Davis, now admits that, in essence, his “confirmation” was false. As a result, both the Washington Post and the NY Post outed Davis as their anonymous source and then effectively retracted their stories “confirming” parts of CNN’s report.
CNN, however, has retracted nothing. All inquiries to the network are directed to a corporate spokesperson, who simply says: “We stand by our story, and are confident in our reporting of it.”
One could speculate that at the time of CNN’s original story that Cohen and Davis believed that they could entice Mueller with their fairy tale but it doesn’t appear that the witch hunter took the bait and possibly even he has no confidence as to Cohen’s credibility.
One thing is for sure though and that’s CNN has been caught dead to rights again but when like all of the really great liars, even when you have been proven to be fibbing, just keep selling the lies.
