Signs are starting to emerge of a serious ideological conflict that threatens to shred the Democratic party at the worst possible time.
Now that the Russian collusion hoax has slowly been fading from the news, the Dems are lacking that critical unifier that was the glue holding the multitudes of dueling identity groups together in a scorched-earth war on President Donald Trump.
Oh, they still hate Trump and not only want him impeached but his head chopped off as the Saturday mobs showed but the party is on the brink of an existential crisis as the extremists who want to eliminate all borders, dismantle ICE, outlaw guns, ban profit and impose their totalitarianism on America in the form of a melding of socialism and forced diversity.
The dam finally broke with the stunning primary win of 28-year-old socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who was serving tequila shooters from behind the bar at a Mexican restaurant only weeks ago and has now become to many, the face of the Democratic party and she has expressed her desire to become president some day.
This is like crack cocaine to the young dopes who have been seduced by the siren song of Bernie “Free Stuff” Sanders who according to an alarming study from the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, are increasingly embracing socialism/communism as a viable alternative to capitalism and what passes for the democratic process.
Millions of them are going to be lining up right behind Ocasio-Cortez going forward.
But some Democrats are trying to intervene to turn the clown car around as it speeds toward Marxism and they understand that while socialism may be the future for many that it is electoral poison in 2018.
One of them is Tammy Duckworth, the Iraq war vet who lost both of her legs when her helicopter was attacked and has since become a symbolic figure who is trotted out whenever a controversial and contentious issue needs to be pushed because by nature of her sacrifice, Dems believe that she is immune from criticism.
Senator Duckworth was one of several establishment Democrats who fanned out across the Sunday morning shows to reign in the calls of abolishing ICE and to beat back the socialist revolution that has come home to roost.
Her message? Such extremism may sell in Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional district but it sure as hell won’t win any elections in the Midwest.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) on Sunday warned against Democrats shifting “too far to the left,” saying it could ostracize Midwestern voters.
Duckworth made the comments on CNN’s “State of the Union” when pressed about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s upset win over longtime Democratic Rep. Joseph Crowley in New York last week.
Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described democratic socialist, defeated the fourth-ranking House Democrat who many had floated as a potential future Democratic Speaker of the House.
The 28-year-old political upstart’s win sparked a conversation about younger, more progressive figures taking on greater influence in the Democratic Party.
“State of the Union” host Jake Tapper asked Duckworth on Sunday if she felt Ocasio-Cortez represents the future of the Democratic Party.
“I think it’s the future of the party in the Bronx, where she is,” Duckworth said.
“I think that you can’t win the White House without the Midwest and I don’t think you can go too far to the left and still win the Midwest,” Duckworth said during the interview.
“You need to talk to the industrial Midwest, you need to listen to the people there,” she added.
Senator Duckworth also refused to follow the lead of Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Bill de Blasio – all potential 2020 candidates – by calling for abolishing ICE which is already the litmus test for the eventual candidate who will emerge to face Trump and a call that could trigger an epic defeat for Democrats.

Not that I would ever describe Duckworth as sane but unlike the Bernie Sanders-Pocahontas wing of the party, she isn’t suicidal.
