Not that you couldn’t see this coming from miles away, but Democrats are already pre-blaming the Russians for future election losses.
It’s one thing when yappy celebs like Alyssa Milano play the Russian meddling card after an underwhelming performance in the Ohio special election and quite another when longtime senators do it.
Guys like Bill Nelson, a wishy-washy career politician who finds himself in a fight for his political survival in his reelection bid.
The 75-year-old is currently losing in polls to Republican Governor Rick Scott who once he leaves Tallahassee due to term limits, wants to go to Washington and if the current numbers hold, voters in the Sunshine State are going to send him there and punch Nelson’s ticket to retirement.
But Nelson isn’t going to simply go away and has now planted the seed that the Russkies have penetrated state voter registration systems in an effort to sow paranoia, smear Gov. Scott as a Kremlin puppet and get the media on his side in the last three months before voters go to the polls.
CLAIM: Russians have penetrated Florida election systems… https://t.co/hT1RsO2Pov

According to the Tampa Bay Times, “Bill Nelson: The Russians have penetrated some Florida voter registration systems”:
Russian operatives have “penetrated” some of Florida’s voter registration systems ahead of the 2018 midterms, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson said Wednesday, adding new urgency to concerns about hacking.
The state, however, said it has received “zero information” supporting his claim.
“They have already penetrated certain counties in the state and they now have free rein to move about,” Nelson told the Tampa Bay Times before a campaign event in Tampa. He said something similar a day earlier in Tallahassee but declined to elaborate.
“That’s classified,” the Democrat said Tuesday.
He is facing a re-election challenge in November from Gov. Rick Scott, whose administration said it has no knowledge of the allegations made by Nelson.
If you are wondering why the TBT would publish such evidence-free claims, remember that the paper is owned by the Poynter Institute which takes money from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation, the Koch Brothers and the Atlantic Council which is spearheading the ongoing Facebook purge of conservatives.
Poynter also owns “fact checker” PolitiFact but don’t expect Senator Nelson to get a “pants on fire” rating for his “the Russians ate my homework” excuse.
Hey, what else are the Democrats going to say? Admit that their ideas suck and voters hate them?
