The Justice Department is planning an increase in the number of judges to process illegal immigration cases in a dozen U.S. cities. The move will thwart a scheme by Mexican officials and American activists to clog the courts in an effort to slow deportations.
The ousting of criminal illegal aliens is a top initiative of the Trump administration and as galling as it is to liberals, elections do have consequences.
According to a Reuters “Immigration judges headed to 12 U.S. cities to speed deportations”:
The U.S. Justice Department is developing plans to temporarily reassign immigration judges from around the country to 12 cities to speed up deportations of illegal immigrants who have been charged with crimes, according to two administration officials.
How many judges will be reassigned and when they will be sent is still under review, according to the officials, but the Justice Department has begun soliciting volunteers for deployment.
The targeted cities are New York; Los Angeles; Miami; New Orleans; San Francisco; Baltimore, Bloomington, Minnesota; El Paso, Texas; Harlingen, Texas; Imperial, California; Omaha, Nebraska and Phoenix, Arizona. They were chosen because they are cities which have high populations of illegal immigrants with criminal charges, the officials said.
A spokeswoman for the Justice Department’s Executive Office of Immigration Review, which administers immigration courts, confirmed that the cities have been identified as likely recipients of reassigned immigration judges, but did not elaborate on the planning.
The plan to intensify deportations is in line with a vow made frequently by President Donald Trump on the campaign trail last year to deport more illegal immigrants involved in crime.
The administration’s efforts to speed deportations seems to be working and a sense of fear is already permeating many Latino communities. A Cinco de Mayo Day fiesta was called off on Philly due to fear of ICE agents working the crowds.
The ramping up of staffing at immigration courts is just one more log that Democrats and the fanatical left than throw upon their bonfire of grievances. If they stick to recent form there will soon be a wave of accusations that Putin has infiltrated the Justice Department.
Once the criminal element has been weeded out and sent back to Mexico the DOJ can then get about the business of deporting the rest of the wage depressing, anchor baby dropping social service draining illegals who have long served as leeches on the backs of U.S. taxpayers for too long now.
Hasta la vista baby!
