Former veep Joe Biden is being promoted by some as the Democratic party’s best chance at defeating an incumbent President Trump in 2020 but due to identity politics and socialism, he is at a severe disadvantage when it comes to nailing down the nomination.
That’s right, as a white male Biden has little chance at surviving the bloody scrum of that will be an intense round of primaries in which the deck is stacked against him as the Dems will all but certainly nominate identity politics queen Kamala Harris or possibly Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren.
After Tuesday’s primaries in which the majority of candidates endorsed by his protege Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez all went down like cheap crack hos, it’s likely that Bernie Sanders’ great socialist revolution is already running on fumes and like Biden, he too is the wrong color and gender. Comrade Bernie is also still on the shit list of Hillary dead-enders who will never forget how he refused to bow out of the 2016 race and simply concede to her majesty.
Joe may be at a disadvantage but as a savvy career politician, he understands that pandering is of the utmost importance and has just kicked off a new outreach campaign for those very special LGBTQ folks coutesy of the Biden Foundation and washed up 80s pop star Cyndi Lauper.
Let’s hear it for the “As You Are” public relations blitz to peel some of the base away from Harris.
The Biden Foundation announced Tuesday it was kicking off its new “As You Are” campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the significance of family in accepting LGBTQ young people.
“We’ll use our resources to highlight the harms of family rejection, and to lift up research, best practices, and personal stories to show the importance of family acceptance,” Biden said in a video to announce the launch of the social media campaign.
LGBTQ youth “continue to be among the most at-risk youth populations in America,” according to The Biden Foundation, and are “disproportionately more likely than their non-LGBTQ peers to experience homelessness, suffer from depression, and experience suicidal ideation.”
“Many of them have been kicked out of their homes, or no longer find it safe to stay at home,” Lauper, the Grammy Award-winning “Time After Time” singer and a longtime LGBTQ activist, says in the promotional video.
Will it be enough to overcome being an old white dude in a party that is increasingly hostile and racist to people like him?
Probably not but you can’t blame Foghorn Leghorn for trying.
