Taco Bell may be America’s favorite Mexican restaurant according to a recent poll but the immensely popular fast food eatery has now found itself at the center of the acrimonious culture wars that have divided the nation in the post-Obama era.
The home of one of the most vibrant and creative value menus in the industry is getting all of the wrong sort of attention this week after a customer was refused service at a Florida location because the drive-thru attendant refused to serve her because she spoke English.
So much for diversity.
The incident went down in the Miami suburb of Hialeah and was captured on cellphone video which assured that it would immediately go viral once it hit social media.
The Taco Bell employee is now an ex-Taco Bell employee as the negative publicity sent the corporation into immediate damage control mode.

Taco Bell has fired an employee in Florida who refused to serve a customer this week because the woman was ordering in English.
The incident, which occurred at a Taco Bell in Hialeah, a suburb of Miami, was widely shared on social media.
Customer Alexandria Montgomery told local Fox affiliate WSVN that she was told “no habla ingles,” which prompted her to ask for a manager.
The video then shows that the server told Montgomery to go to another Taco Bell location, and then called the police after she refused to leave.
“This does not meet our customer experience expectations. We have worked quickly to resolve with the customer to ensure this doesn’t happen again. The individual no longer works for the brand,” Taco Bell said in a statement reported by CBS Miami.
Additional details from Miami’s WSVN7 News:
A Hialeah Taco Bell employee is now out of a job after a customer’s video went viral online.
Alexandria Montgomery told 7News she was trying to place an order at the drive-through window of a Taco Bell at 785 East Ninth St. in Hialeah around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
“She was saying something in Spanish that I didn’t understand,” Montgomery recalled. “I replied and said, ‘No habla español,’ and she replied and said, ‘No habla ingles.’”
When she could not order through the speaker, Montgomery decided to drive up to the window and started recording video on her cell phone when the worker still refused to take her order because she wasn’t speaking Spanish.
“I simply wanted a quesadilla and that’s not hard to understand in Spanish, because I think it’s a Spanish word,” she said.
“Do you have a manager here?” Montgomery can be heard asking in the video.
The employee replied in Spanish, “She is in her house sleeping.”
The worker then told Montgomery to leave because there was another car behind her.
“There is no one who speaks English,” she said in Spanish. She then shut and locked the window.
Even though the store was in a location that is heavily Latino this is really inexcusable and while there is no question as to why Taco Bell moved quickly to fire the employee, the question is why was she hired to begin with?
Look for CNN and MSNBC to find some way to spin this in order to blame it all on President Trump.
