Beltway golden boy and darling of the bipartisan political elite Paul Ryan is ready to move on to bigger and better things according to multiple reports.
The Speaker of the House, former GOP vice presidential nominee and protector of corporate interests is not planning on running for reelection in the Wisconsin congressional district that he has ruled for nearly two decades. Rumors of the possibility of Ryan hanging it up were being floated last month which were denied by his office but now plans to make it a done deal with an announcement this morning.
Ryan has been targeted by the Democrats as millions of dollars are pouring into the coffers of challenger Randy Bryce aka Iron Stache, a union guy who dons a hard hat around election time but likely a closetful of pants with shiny asses from a cushy desk job and paper pusher. The Dems are looking for signature wins and there would be few bigger trophies than Ryan.

Via The Hill “Ryan to retire as Speaker in January”:
Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is retiring at the end of this Congress, ending his speakership a little more than three years after it began and as the GOP faces a possible loss of its majority this fall.
Ryan’s office says he will serve out his term and retire from Congress in January. He is expected to speak publicly about the decision at 10 a.m.
“This morning Speaker Ryan shared with his colleagues that this will be his last year as a member of the House,” Brendan Buck, counselor to Ryan, said in a statement.
“He will serve out his full term, run through the tape, and then retire in January,” Buck said. “After nearly twenty years in the House, the speaker is proud of all that has been accomplished and is ready to devote more of his time to being a husband and a father. While he did not seek the position, he told his colleagues that serving as speaker has been the professional honor of his life, and he thanked them for the trust they placed in him. He will discuss his decision at a press conference immediately following the member meeting.”
Ryan has frequently clashed with President Trump and prior to his securing of the GOP nomination in 2016 was viewed as a kingmaker. He continued to oppose Trump after the convention and right up until he won the presidency.
Some see Ryan’s departure as a sure sign that the “blue wave” is coming and that he is one of the rats jumping ship. There are few bigger rats than Paul Ryan who can now reap the rewards from his career of greasing the rails for globalists and selling out the American people.
