In more ominous news for the Republican establishment, a new poll shows that Donald Trump is leading in the huge electoral prize of Florida. The Sunshine State, home of the two-headed monster “Jebio” will be critical for the eventual GOP nominee as the rules were recently changed to make the state a winner take all windfall in terms of delegates. The poll which was conducted by Florida Atlantic University has the Donald at 32 percent followed by Marco Rubio at 19 and Jeb! at 11. This is big news considering that Bush III was the state’s two-term governor and Rubio is a sitting U.S. Senator. The poll also shows that Hillary Clinton continues to be detested by voters and would be pasted by the GOP if the election were held today. The biggest news though is that the man that all the big boys are backing is struggling to even stay above media creations Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina.
The Hill reports that “Poll: Rubio passes Jeb for second place in Florida”:
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has passed former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for second place in their home state’s GOP presidential primary, according to a Florida Atlantic University poll.
Rubio got 19.2 percent support in the Sunshine State, ahead of Bush’s 11.3 percent. Businessman Donald Trump leads the poll with 31.5 percent.
“Marco Rubio being that far ahead of Jeb Bush is surprising,” Kevin Wagner, an associate professor of political science at Florida Atlantic University, told The Sun Sentinel. “Some of the early Florida polling suggested that Bush was in a stronger position.”
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson checks in fourth in FAU’s sampling, with 10.3 percent support, and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina follows at 8.3 percent.
The poll, taken after last week’s Republican presidential debate in Simi Valley, Calif., surveyed 352 likely Republican primary voters in Florida from Sept. 17-20 with a 5.2 percent margin of error.
Bush is trying to hold off Rubio for third place in national polls, behind Trump and Carson.
It is possible that Trump’s lead will continue to grow as conservatives – especially tea party affiliated voters – will recall how the ambitious young whelp Rubio told them everything that they wanted to hear back in 2010 before stabbing them all in the back. As a Florida resident who was hoodwinked into voting for the bastard I can personally attest that Chico Rubio has been running for the presidency ever since the last votes were counted allowing him to slither into the Senate and that he could give a rat’s ass about this state or anyone in it outside of the big donors. This is going to come back to bite him in the ass come primary time next spring because hell hath no fury like a tea partier scorned and there are lots of them down here. As for Jeb! he is going to end up fighting for the same RINO friendly voters with his former protégé as real conservatives who are sick and tired of dry handjobs from establishment Republican candidates will continue to flock to Trump.
Trump already must smell blood because he is on the attack against Rubio today for his piss poor Senate attendance record which should tell Floridians all that they need to know about where his priorities lie.
The Florida primary will be held on March 15, 2016.
