Democrats are unifying to block the Senate confirmation of Mike Pompeo who has been picked by President Trump to replace Rex Tillerson at the State Department and the unspoken message is that he is being targeted because of his religious beliefs.
During a shit show of a confirmation hearing last week, Pompeo was assailed by Senator Cory Booker who badgered the former CIA director over his views on gay marriage and whether anal sex between men was a perversion. It was an incredible inquisition of a man of faith who had already been confirmed to head the CIA without being subjected to such religious persecution. As of Thursday morning, it is looking like the Dems have just about enough support to sink Pompeo and the vote will be razor thin with the fanatics looking to shore up their God-hating base in an election cycle.
It isn’t stopping with Pompeo either because a major LGBT group is in the process of launching a vicious smear campaign against Vice President Mike Pence who is himself a devout man of faith. Pence has already been a punching bag for the Gay Gestapo after he was savaged by the two homosexual Olympians Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy at the Pyeongchang games. He was also slimed along with millions of other Christians by ABC’s foghorn Joy Behar who compared Christianity with being mentally ill.
Now he is in the crosshairs of The Human Rights Campaign which according to Discover The Networks was at one time receiving money from George Soros.
A leading progressive group is launching a campaign-style effort to paint Vice President Mike Pence as an extremist who wields unprecedented power in the White House — an early sign that as the vice president takes a lead role in midterm campaigning, he also risks making himself a target.
The Human Rights Campaign, a leading LGBT rights organization, is launching a sustained attack against Pence, with a website, videos and a lengthy report to be released on Thursday. The materials were shown to POLITICO early.
The attack from a key player in the Democratic base comes as Pence is campaigning heavily for Republicans ahead of the 2018 midterms. And as President Donald Trump’s legal troubles expand, from the special counsel probe to a federal investigation of his personal attorney, some Democrats are beginning to train their fire on Pence in case the president doesn’t run for reelection in 2020 or gets removed from office.
The Hill adds:
“Mike Pence has made a career out of attacking the rights and equal dignity of LGBTQ people, women and other marginalized communities. Now as vice president, he poses one of the greatest threats to equality in the history of our movement,” HRC President Chad Griffin said in a statement.
“With the world distracted by Donald Trump’s scandal-ridden White House, Mike Pence’s nefarious agenda has been allowed to fly under the radar for too long.”
The report examines Pence’s history on LGBTQ issues and legislation.
As Indiana governor, Pence signed a religious freedom law that was criticized as a pathway to legal anti-LGBTQ discrimination, it notes, adding that as a congressman, Pence supported a constitutional amendment against same-sex marriage.
According to the report, Pence took to the floor of the House in 2007 to insist that hate crime laws “serve no practical purpose.”
The hate is just pouring out of the floodgates on the left right now and it isn’t only Trump but all of the traditional western values – especially religious ones.
