President Donald Trump hit out at CNN reporter Jim Acosta for trying to grandstand at his press conference Wednesday.
Trump held a press conference in New York after speaking at the United Nations General Assembly.
Acosta used his question to demand the president call on a woman.
“If you don’t mind, after I’m finished … if one of our female colleagues could go that would be great,” Acosta said.
“What does he mean by that? Explain,” Trump demanded before cutting off the reporter. “What does it mean, no, what does it mean?”
“I think it would be great if a female reporter could ask you a question about this issue,” Acosta said, referring to the decades-old allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
“I wouldn’t mind it at all. Wouldn’t make any difference to me,” Trump replied.
“Why is it, Mr. President, that you always seem to side with the accused and not the accuser?” Acosta asked. “Is that because of the many allegations that you’ve had against you over the years?”
Trump shut down the CNN reporter’s claims.
“I wasn’t happy with Roy Moore,” Trump said. “As far as women [go], allegations can go the other way also. I could pick a woman and she could have charges made against her.”
