How’s this for another Obama back flip. Yes, we have all witnessed how proud our wonderful President was of Yemen, and the success he held it to be. Yemen was a country where Obama had tried out his ideas about how to degrade and destroy terrorism.
Of course, things went terribly recently when the US-backed president of the country was forced to step down in the wake of successes by Houthi rebels. One more thing, these Houthi rebels are backed by Iran.
Now we have another report from Israel, indicating that Obama has basically agreed to almost all Iranian demands in the negotiations over their nuclear program. This is a big problem not only for us here in the US, but Israeli officials are very concerned as well, since it puts Iran in the position of being only a month or two away from actually developing a nuclear weapon. The real question now, is how does Israel respond (supposing this is true)? While it is most likely a big red line in the sand for the Jewish state, many also think there is no longer any type of military option available, with Iran probably burying their nuclear facilities deep underground to protect them from possible air attacks.
This goes completely against how Obama talked during the 2012 campaign. He even promised to use military means in order to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. So much for that ever happening. They even called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a chickens*** for actually believing what they said and failing to take action on their own. How arrogant on behalf of the Obama Regime, although certainly not surprising.
But wait, there is more bad news. It would seem that now the Obama Regime has done another about face, this time over Yemen. Washington is now going to be supporting the Iranian-supported Houthi rebels. So much for that wonderful, successful country Obama had helped build in Yemen. After all, since the Houthi’s are against Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, let’s follow the enemy of my almost enemy is my friend theory of Obama international relations. More from Reuters:
“The shift also could place it on the same side as Iran in the Yemen conflict. The Houthis are drawn from their country’s Zaidi population. Zaidis, who by some estimates make up roughly a third of the population, practice a form of Shiite Islam and are concentrated in northwest Yemen. US officials believe the militia has received considerable funding and arms from Shiite-dominated Iran, something Houthi leaders have variously confirmed and denied.”
Interesting to think the US is now going to support something which would place a Shiite Iranian proxy on the doorstep of Sunni dominated Saudi Arabia. Certainly not the best way to promote peace or even political stability in the Middle East.
Then again, maybe Obama has other plans for this strategic alliance. What do YOU think? I wonder if Obama is a Shiite himself?
