It would seem that our feckless President Obama is stuck back in 2012. Of course, this was a very good time for him and his party…at least as far as elections go. Never mind the fact that he didn’t get much accomplished. It is also quite obvious (more so now than ever before) that Obama is perhaps the most arrogant leader in the history of our nation.
Obama Loses Election, Claims Mandate
If you watched Obama’s post-election press conference then you no doubt saw him do something amazing and extraordinary. He actually claimed a mandate. Now, this would seem very strange in light of the tidal wave that drove many members of his own party out of power. But this didn’t present a problem for our feckless leader. Instead, he claimed a mandate for all of those people who didn’t vote!
That is kind of an unusual mandate. He actually said this: “To everyone who voted, I want you to know that I hear you…to the two-thirds of voters who chose not to participate in the process yesterday, I hear you, too.” The votes pretty much speak for themselves, saying no more hope and change, no more Obama or liberal agenda. The main question, however, is what did those non-voters say?
Enlightening us on the matter, our amazing President said that many more voters turned out to elect him and to re-elect him in 2008 and 2012 than those who turned out to vote last week. In other words, the delusional President is basically saying that he has a bigger mandate than the newly elected Republicans since ‘more’ voters turned out in ‘his’ election. This is even more reason for the Republicans to finish the job for which they were elected
This is simply an excuse for failure, which we should now be expecting from Obama. Everyone knows the turnout of midterm elections is always lower than in Presidential elections, that’s just the way it works. So, instead, Obama has decided he isn’t even going to focus on those who actually voted. He is going to continue pushing forth his mandate, given to him in 2008 and then 2012, based on those people who didn’t vote.
Obama Can’t Accept Responsibility For Failed Agenda
Never mind the fact that they didn’t vote for an actual reason. Most likely, they were disgusted with Obama’s policies and his agenda. In either case, it is the height of ridiculousness to declare a mandate based on those who DIDN’T vote. Clearly the Obama agenda and Obama mandate has been repudiated in a very thorough manner.
It was Obama himself who even said that his agenda and policies (every one of them, remember?) were indeed on the ballot. Although, he did try to back off this claim a bit later, saying how this wasn’t actually a national election. Almost seems like he finally woke up to the reality that the voters were disgusted with him and were going to make his party pay for supporting such a drastic agenda.
Mandates are given and then lost all the time. This is also something the GOP should carefully consider. We only have to look back at Bush to see just how something like this can turn. Now, Obama is facing the same thing as George Bush did in 2006—a huge midterm crushing after the voters handed him a seemingly strong mandate just two years before. Of course, Bush, being at least an honorable man/politician, had the decency to accept responsibility for the defeat. Unlike our current leader, who has instead vowed to continue with his agenda including executive amnesty (and likely many other things).
What do YOU think about all this? Is our President delusional? Still stuck in 2012? Has he allowed his own arrogance to overcome any sense of reality? And does this spell more trouble for the remaining years of his term?
