That moment when you think you’re winning, gosh. Who knew Bill Clinton jumped up and down like a kid? The Clinton’s were prematurely celebrating the presidential win. Of course they believed they had it in the bag, everyone told them so.
But, Hillary just couldn’t hold on to the Obama coalition. When it came to the polls–Latino, African-American and younger voters failed to show up in large enough numbers to put Clinton in the White House. It was 2 a.m. ET, when Clinton conceded.
She even lost states thought to be on her side such as Wisconsin. Not to mention, she trailed in other industrial heartland states such as Pennsylvania and Michigan. In fact, she even underperformed President Obama across the board.
Plus, a larger number of black and Latino voters chose Trump over Mitt Romney. This is what Obama said before the election:
If we let this thing slip and I’ve got a situation where my last two months in office are preparing for a transition to Donald Trump, whose staff people have said that their primary agenda is to have him in the first couple of weeks sitting in the Oval Office and reverse every single thing that we’ve done.
And, look where we are. Trump will reverse many of Obama’s policies and executive orders. Still, on TV, you can see many liberal white women openly berating Donald Trump.
Well, where were these women on election day? Because Hillary, trying to become the first woman president of the United States, lost the white women’s vote. Millions of women said the problem wasn’t Clinton’s gender, it was her. Conservative commentator Amanda Carpenter, one of the original #NeverTrump-ers summed it up this way:
Don’t say Clinton was disadvantaged because she was a woman, because as a Clinton she had every advantage possible. She had money, the staff, the ads, and institutional support needed for a successful run. And, she still blew it, folks.
